Remake A Link to the Past Over Majora’s Mask

ZD writes: Maintaining my opinion about remakes overall, I don’t actually really want to see either remake made too badly; this video is simply about which I would prefer since it seems inevitable that we’ll get one or the other (although in discussing my reasons why A Link to the Past would be better I did get excited about the prospect, though it could simply be done in a new game as well, which I think would be better). My overall stance on this might not be much of a surprise, but hopefully you’ll find my reasons interesting. You’re free to disagree though.

For me personally I would like to see both done but if one was getting done before the other I'd have to say I'd want Majora’s Mask first. mainly because I never finished the game which is something I want to change.

Moncole4302d ago

Why not both? One for 3DS and one for Wii U.

carib224302d ago

zelda a link to the past would be better i agreed i really enjoyed playing that game.

MWH4302d ago

A Link to the Past is the real deal but i don't see it happen, they might as well do a new game based on it but with a different name.

23 Years Ago, Nintendo Unleashed the Riskiest Zelda Sequel Ever

'The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask' is a testament to Nintendo's game development skills.

AuraAbjure328d ago

This game is so trippy when one considers Link is dead, and tripping in limbo or something.

ill never forget my first experiences with MM, and its why its my favorite zelda title

luckytrouble349d ago

Majora's Mask, a major oddity in the series as the game is shaped around the story rather than the story being shaped around the game as Nintendo usually does. It wants you to be invested in saving the world and all the unique individuals in it. The game was made so fast too, this is really its saving grace. Certain aspects of the original game technically are a bit rough (poor Z targeting getting made into jank), and the boss fights just generally aren't good in either the original or the remake. The dungeons themselves are generally actually pretty interesting, but the true draw is everything that happens outside of them ultimately.

Such a gnarly game! The gameplay is so varied because Link can transform into totally different characters. Swimming around as a Zora was so chiilll

I am a huge Zelda fan and love them all, but for me Ocarina Of Time is the greatest and my second all time favourite game after Final Fantasy VII.

LoveSpuds607d ago (Edited 607d ago )

You sir, have good taste in games :)

I also love all of the Zelda games but I adore Windwaker (Specifically the HD version on WiiU) most of all. It is a close run thing with Breath of the Wild though.

Special mention to Cadence of Hyrule too, what an awesome spin off title that was!

GaboonViper607d ago

Cheers Spuds, yep i love Windwaker too, beautiful artstyle, and i loved sailing and finding all the secrets out there.

blackbeld607d ago

Agreed. For me top 3 of all time is.

1. ocarina of time
2. Final fantasy Vll
3. MGS1

GaboonViper607d ago

Brilliant top 3, would love a MGS1 remake that has been rumoured.

LoveSpuds607d ago

Yup, hard to argue with that top 3 squire, some quality games right there!

-Foxtrot608d ago

Oh gee can't imagine what Number 1 is

....

A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker etc is better than Breath of the Wild.

lockedongamer1608d ago

I respectfully disagree, but they're all great games.

porkChop608d ago

I think it really depends on what you're looking for. If you want a traditional Zelda game then OoT or WW would be better to you. But if you want a Zelda game that really leans into adventure and exploration, and if you want intelligent systems/logic, BotW would be the better game.

I enjoy both. I understand why some people aren't fond of it but for me it was a breath of fresh air that I really needed. I'd become so burnt out on unimaginative games and BotW sort of made me appreciate games again, as weird as that may sound.

godofboobees607d ago

Those are not traditional Zelda games

Crows90607d ago

Right...so let's pretend ocarina of time didnt have exploration, secret dungeons and other secrets. Complex boss mechanics and exploration rewards. At least a traditional Zelda has dungeons.

porkChop607d ago

What point are you attempting to make? At no point did I say that OoT didn't have any of that. However, the level of exploration and sense of adventure are vastly different between OoT and BotW.

Brazz607d ago

Breath of the Wild is overrated as shot, Wind waker is much better.

P_Bomb608d ago

I’m a Link to the Past guy.

MadLad607d ago

Majora's Mask still holds as my favorite to this day, despite being the black sheep of the series.

pietro1212607d ago

I love them all, but Wind Walker, Link to the Past and Minish Cap are my favorites

John_McClane607d ago

Link to the Past was so, so good! Those chickens though! 🤣
