OT- I would prefer the next Doom game for next gen consoles. That way, it would be sure to wow us without being shackled to ageing console hardware.

-MD-4305d ago

Doesn't matter to me what console it ends up on because it'll play best on pc.

Gazondaily4305d ago

Yeah but that's thing MD- developing for current consoles might hinder the development for PC, in that, because of the requirement for Doom 4 to be compatible on current gen consoles, the PC version might not be as amazing as it would be if id software had more freedom with extra power afforded to it by next-gen consoles.

Obviously the logical thing to do would be to develop for PC first, like DICE did with BF3. Still, developers can't go 'all out' with the PC version (like Crytek did with the first Crysis) if they constantly have the worry of porting to consoles at the back of their minds.

Either way, gameplay is the most important thing here as well as the story.

haha very funny, anyway, valid point but i'm good as long as the PC version is done with justice.

don't mess up this one id, do so and you're Doomed untill Doomsday.

pay attention to:
- gameplay
- atmosphere
- story

wallis4305d ago (Edited 4305d ago )

This is sweet. I don't care what generation it's released on the whole concept means squat to pc gamers anyway. Doom 4 uses the rage engine at 30fps! That's just the boost needed to turn id tech 5 into the powerhouse it ought to have been from the start.

Vynzent4305d ago

Uhm... as a PC gamer I do care what gen the game is released on, because the newer the consoles are, the better the game will look, especially on PC.

But that said, I don't care if Doom4 is this gen, I just want to play it! I am very anxious to see Doom in a uniquely textured world >:D

Dms20124305d ago

A hint of a possible reveal is news? Sure I will be excited when they do reveal it but until then why even mention it?

blinkman1474305d ago

I love how he really didn't even say they were going to reveal anything, but merely re-release old doom games(which we already knew). Doom 4 will be revealed when it's revealed... just have patience

Kingdom Come4305d ago (Edited 4305d ago )

id Software have promised a trailer for QuakeCon for the past three years and each year retract that promise on the shows opening promising it for the next. Hopefully, we'll actually be getting a reveal this year...

Vynzent4305d ago

Lol yeah. Last year they had Rage as an excuse, this year they have nothing.

Expecting trailer on BFG edition.

What's cool is you can see some of the animations they kept and revised for 2016.

nirwanda1215d ago

When you strip everything back you can really see how great the animation is.
It's amazing how far games have come.

glenn19791215d ago

For me its always interesting to see some prototype of a game of something else and see the final product on why they go another direction in the end

RaidenBlack1215d ago

My favorite is the MGS:Rising vs MGR:Revengeance.(I preferred the Kojima's one)
Another interesting one is Splinter Cell Conviction Concept vs Retail

spicelicka1215d ago

I don't see what is "COD-like" here? Just because there's 2 seconds footage with ironsight?

Concertoine1215d ago

The devs were openly going for the cinematic shooter style that was popular in the years this was developed. COD-like Doom was pretty much the pitch.

Fluke_Skywalker1215d ago

Looks pish, no wonder it got canned.

Every Doom Game Ever

Whilst the FPS genre has since had a tonne of fantastic franchises, such as Quake, Unreal and Serious Sam, Doom remains at the top of the pile, and has one of the best comeback stories in video game history. Doom is almost 30 years running, and has even bled into other mediums such as feature films and novels. As it has been going for so long, there have been a large number of entries in the series, and there are probably a few you never played. This is every Doom game ever.

Why Development Stopped On DOOM 4

According to ID Executive Producer Marty Stratton, DOOM 4 was scrapped because "it was more 'DOOM' in name than really anything."

Dabigsiebowski1517d ago

Because they wanted to punish John Carmack.

AK911517d ago

From reports apparently Doom 4 was shaping up to be COD but set in the DOOM universe, honestly really glad that didn’t happen.

Profchaos1517d ago

Pretty much they wanted to make it to meet what was selling at the time and in doing so it lost the soul of what makes doom doom.

MadLad1517d ago

Even Doom 3 did that, despite being a solid game all the same. Not mind blowing, in my opinion, but a solid title.

Segata1517d ago

Because it was Call of Duty with generic demons on Earth. Looked worse than the 2009 Wolfenstein. They made the right call.
