""PlayStation 4 and Xbox 720 (or rumored Xbox 8) to follow free-to-play business model while utilizing cloud technology,"

What is this a nightmare scenario?

Both systems would fail immediately

Could we see the idea of owning a video game console dying off after the next lineup of consoles?

No

Will Gaikai offer more than a gaming restricted experience on PlayStation's next console?

No

F2P only works for online shooters, and games with ZERO STORY

It doesnt work for anything else.

And even saying that most games fail

The model we have now, is not perfect, but its way way way better

The last sony system?

Nick?

To play exclusives and nintendo, sony, micrisoft games will we have to buy 3 tvs?

LOL

there will always be consoles

@setokaiba

I don't know if you're repeating things from the podcast or if these are your opinions, but I agree with some of your comments and disagree with some of the others.

"What is this a nightmare scenario? Both systems would fail immediately"

I highly doubt cloud gaming is going to be a nightmare, nor would either system fail because of it. More than likely "cloud gaming" is only going to be a compliment to the gaming we already know and love. As the PS4 / Xbox 8 console cycle progresses Cloud gaming will obtain an equal presence to retail / disc. Cloud gaming is not going to take over simply because:

1. People like owning physical copies.
2. The entire world doesn't have a strong enough internet connection to support a "cloud gaming" only console.

Now the same cannot be said for the PS5 and Xbox ?. Think of it like Netflix. You can stream a bunch of movies, but all the movies and the best movies are available on DVD. You'll be able to stream PS1, PS2, PSP, PSN, PS3, and PS4 demos via the cloud. But at the end of the day if you want a full PS4 game more than likely you're going to either buy it from the cloud, or at a store.

"Will Gaikai offer more than a gaming restricted experience on PlayStation's next console? "

Gaikai says it best, their service can be used to stream just about anything. So more than likely Sony is planning on using a Gaikai stream service for everything. Games, TV shows / Movies (Sony Netflix), Music (Q), Music Videos, etc... So yes it will be used for more than just games.

"F2P only works for online shooters, and games with ZERO STORY"

I kind of see how you came to this conclusion for shooters, but this isn't true at all. There are a bunch of F2P MMO's out there now, and they have stories, good stories. Just type top 10 F2P games, and you will find hundreds of list with different games. While most of us have PC's, there's something about being able to turn on a console and play a game that will push gamers to play those F2P games. I wouldn't have played DC Universe Online had it not been for the PS3 version, and now after playing it I installed Windows on my Mac just so I can play it everywhere. That's the benefit of consoles, some people just can't bring themselves to play games on the PC.

I don't get what the fuss about F2P is. It's a freaking free game to play. If you don't like it, don't play it. F2P is doing nothing to hurt franchises you know and love. Nor is it going to stop the production of new franchises from coming out. All F2P is going to do is allow those PC developers a new place to push their games. Sure there might be a flood, but it's not Sony, MS, or Nintendo who are developing these games, it's studios who already focus on that. You're still going to get your Zelda's, Uncharted's, Halo's, etc...

JBSleek4306d ago

Stop this nonsense right now. Until Sony bought that company the general population understood that this isn't possible right now with the internet. Only an option. ONLY AN OPTION. And it would only be for previous games.

When did everyone suddenly forget this? Are they actually losing their mind?

setokaiba4306d ago

Its tabloid shock reporting for website hits I think.

Yangus4306d ago

Sad....but maybe its true.Next-gen 70-80% F2P,online,multiplayer.Busines s-business gamers pay...pay...

setokaiba4306d ago

Most gamers would stop gaming. It would be the end of the industry

r214306d ago

i dont think games would stop gaming. we'd still have previous gen consoles and games to enjoy :D

jsslifelike4306d ago

Cloud... the final frontier.

Tapioca Cold4305d ago

All you americans do is pay for everything without question. Most of you pay an online pass for 360. Why? Before you know it the world will have to pay for everything.

Cloud is the future.

It wouldn't have mattered, Sony would've rushed it out and left it to die. More so now than before with their focus now being on SP narrative driven AAA games.

CrimsonWing69514d ago

Oh, but somehow Smash Bros. 64 made it work?

It just couldn’t compete with Smash Bros. and it wasn’t a free-to-play game like Multiversus.

PapaBop514d ago

I think it released at the right time. It's just after the success of Smash and Multiversus, it's finally time for a sequel.

spoonard514d ago

I'd be all in on a remake or remaster of the original. I enjoyed it because I didn't sit there and compare every aspect to SSB. I just enjoyed it as it was.

Magatsuhi514d ago

Sony should make part 2 and dump a good amount of money on it. Scrap super only kills and it's bound to succeed.

Father__Merrin514d ago

Yes the power kills spoilt it completely WTH was they thinking you should have hp bar that's it

God of War: Ragnarok Weirdly Makes PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Canon

God of War: Ragnarok has plenty of fun references to PlayStation history, but now fans have discovered a conversation that calls back to PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale — the crossover fighting game released for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

Nyxus522d ago

I wouldn't say canon. More like an easter egg.

Deathdeliverer521d ago

That’s interesting. It actually does make it canon lol. He mentioned it in a mainline game. I’d say that’s pretty cool.
