Call of Duty Online confirmed, debut trailer released

Activision and Tencent has just confirmed Call of Duty Online for China. The publisher also revealed debut trailer for the game.

@TopDudeMan - No. They'll never go Free2Play as long as each release of the console version sets sales and profit records.

If it starts to wean, then yeah, maybe explore a F2P type model, but there's a steep drop for that to become relevant.

The video quality is irrelevant to the graphic complaints. HD video being shown at 360p will still look high quality. These graphics in 360p look worse than the original graphics for those games at the same resolution, but that's not the point. This isn't about resolution. You have a game play above 1080p still look like crap if the actual art and character models look terrible.

Oh, it's the console kids who don't understand resolution but think 1080p means it's the next big graphics game.

He is completely correct. I watch everything in 360p as my internet isn't good enough to watch at 720/1080 unless I wait for it to load, and I can tell the difference between a good looking game and a terrible looking game. You can still see shadows, you can still see particles, you can still see animations, you can still (semi) see textures, you can see lighting.

If I went into an old PC game and set it to 1080p, does that mean the graphics are automatically set to PS3 style graphics?

I agree that you can tell what a game will look like, generally, with 360p video. But he said:

Which is completely wrong. If you watch a blu-ray on a standard def TV, it will look the exact same as a DVD on a standard def TV.

Also, no matter what you say, you can not judge a game's graphical quality based off of a 360p trailer. It's displaying at a ludicrousness incomparably low resolution coupled with YouTube's low bitrate videos. Explosions may look blocky and poorly animated on a YouTube 360p video, whereas the game running on ultra at 1080p+ could look mindblowing.

Every game in china now is pretty much f2p on pc because console sales are banned in china, and the chinese don't believe in paying for non-physical things (software). But for some reason they're fine with paying for their non-physical in-game microtransactions..

This is only for China because the way their gaming industry works is vastly different than ours therefore Call of Duty Online is about the only way Activision can make any revenue in that part of the world.

Exactly. The gaming market in China and even in Korea are huge into fp2 micro-transition games. They lots of f2p games that never get released outside of those countries, Korea has their own version of Counter-Strike. They have internet cafes on just about every street corner.
