Shadow of the Colossus....

A Must buy

ABizzel14318d ago

It says first PSN summer sale, but I could have sworn they did a summer sale before?

Anywho, pretty much every game on the list is a great buy especially at 30% or 50% off. If you missed out on the following games I recommend you buy them now, you won't be disappointed.

Pac Man DX CE, NBA Jam, House of the Dead 3 (if you like it), Crysis,
Closure, Shadow of the Colossus HD, Infamous: Festival of Blood, Killzone 3 multiplayer (the whole game should be cheap by now), Renegade Ops, Catherine ($20), and Trine 2 ($7.49)

Droplitz ($5),

Rock of Ages ($5), pretty much bowling meets Monkey Ball. You roll the boulder down a huge hill filled with obstacles and things to crush, while maintaing momentum to knock down gates to progress to the next level. It's more fun than it sounds, but not for everyone.

I think they meant it as the first sale for the summer, not the first sale ever...

pixelsword4318d ago

Yeah, but if you have plus and get the 50% discount, will you still "own" the game if you stopped getting plus?

I'm serious here. I don't actually know.

MerkinMax4318d ago

I was wondering the same thing.

Soldierone4318d ago

Yes. If you BUY a game, even at discount, you keep it.

If it was FREE, then no.....

ginsunuva4318d ago

Anything you pay for you keep. Anything that's 100% free from Plus is taken away. Except avatars and little stuff like that I think.

ReservoirDog3164318d ago

Yeah if you pay anything for it, it's yours permanently. Even at a discount.

Anyone know what's gonna happen with all the stuff we buy on PSN/XBLA when the PS4/720 come out by the way?

Never thought of it before.

doogiebear4318d ago (Edited 4318d ago )

Yes the games u PAY for (even if on discount) you keep forever. I know because before I got the year subscription, I had the 3 month one, and when it expired, I got to keep the ones I paid money towards. The ones that were entirely "free" are the ones that stop working. U will know because it doesnt make u agree to the PS plus terms and conditions when u pay any amount of cash on the psn store. Only the free games ask u to agree with each download.

Also, when I check the expiration date of the free games, it shows when I need to renew membership. However when I check date of a game I PAID for (even of it was at a huge discount due to PS+), it shows NO expiration date nor a PS plus symbol when checking information/properties because once you pay even one penny for a game, u own it. It is just an awesome deal.

Also u can keep all PS minis and avatars and themes even if subscription expires. But ps3 and ps1 (and ps2 if they ever give those away) games will lock up and stop working.

dantesparda4318d ago (Edited 4318d ago )

i dont think you can keep the minis, cuz if i remember right, i couldnt play them when my sub ended.

Trebius514318d ago

they worked way too hard on the playstation network and home for it all not to transfer over to ps4.

i donno about xbox tho.

dc14318d ago

In short . If you pay one red cent for it, its yours for life (Whether on plus or not).

PSN Plus is great.

Cosmo8114318d ago

Yes. Discounted games are yours to keep, freebies are the ones you don't get to keep if your subscription ends.

doogiebear4318d ago

I wish north America could get Darkstalkers as a discount. Europe got it free last month and I wish we could have gotten it (even of at discount).

Also, does anyone know what the 3 "FREE" games of July will be yet?

dantesparda4318d ago

Dont worry to much about it cuz it'll probably eventually come out in the US plus

Kurt Russell4318d ago

Shadow of the Colossus...

I've never played the game, but people on here seem to go bat shit mental for it, so that will be the one I purchase!

Neo Nugget4318d ago

If you don't have Shadow of the Colossus yet, I'm willing to forgive you if you buy it as part of this sale.

TheFirstClassic4318d ago

I'm glad I'll have your forgiveness, I'll be getting crysis and shadow of the colossus for the price of one of them!

koston36474318d ago

will do, thanks for being so reasonable Nug...

Mr_Kuwabara4318d ago

Had SotC day one, on PS2. Way ahead of ya buddy.

GUYwhoPLAYSvideoGAME4318d ago (Edited 4318d ago )

honestly, if you don't have shadow of the colossus OR a ps3, it would be more than worth it to go buy a ps2 and a copy of sotc which would all be around 60$ which is the price of a new game nowadays anyway, and after that you would have a ps2 that you could play jak, ratchet and clank, okami, re4, ico, sly, god of war, and other games for ridiculously low prices on anyways, so sounds like a great deal to me

a08andan4318d ago

I bought the HD-collection but havent really got around to play it yet, so am I half-forgiven? :D I like to support games with an actual depth :P

BabyTownFrolics4318d ago

with the discount how much will it cost? I am definitely picking that up.

Theo11304318d ago

Nice to see sony spread the love, I mostly play on pc, but it's nice to see this kind of thing on consoles.

soundslike4318d ago

Yep, I'm loving this ongoing trend of them chasing after Steams model.

Soldierone4318d ago

Is it actually 50 percent off? Last time it said 50 percent off, and some of the prices weren't....then again it probably said "up to"....

I might buy Festival of Blood, but other than that I either already scored the game due to an earlier sale, or dont want it.

Rage_S904318d ago

If you want a further discount you should PM Cgoodno(Admin), he can get you some codes.

sashimi4318d ago

I own quite a few of those and got some from psn plus for free but def will buy Catherine :)

Mugen Souls Retro Review – Sexy Demon Space Adventure

Gary Green said: We have a juxtaposition of 2D and 3D visuals, flashy turn-based combat, quirky anime characters with cheeky dialogue with plenty of partial nudity; Yes, this is a Compile Heart JRPG. Whilst the engine is borrowed from Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2, Mugen Souls is more of a Disgaea spin-off. It’s not a strategy RPG as such, it merely sits within Disgaea’s ever-expanding universe (Multiverse? Netherverse? Your guess is as good as mine). You won’t find cameos though, since Mugen Souls is a franchise which aims to stand on its own two feet.

Looking Back At 2008, An Unbelievably Incredible Year Of Video Game Releases

Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."

CrimsonWing694h ago

I don’t think anything can compare to 2023

lucasnooker3h ago

1998 - the best year in gaming! Metal gear solid, crash bandicoot 3, medievil, half life, ocarina of time, thief, tenchu, resident evil 2, Spyro, tomb raider 3, oddworld abes exodus, banjo kazooie.

It was a different breed of a gaming era. You’ll never understand what it was like back then. The aura of gaming, it was different!

KyRo3h ago(Edited 3h ago)

I second this. Gaming was a lot more varied and fun than it is today. I'm 35 so getting on compared to some here but I got to see all the changes from NES up to now but I've never felt so disappointed in any generation than I have this current gen. I was expecting more from this generation rather than prettier versions of games that came before it. Game mechanics have become so refined that alot of games feel the same and has done for a while now.

Maybe it's time to have a break for a while. I love gaming but I don't feel I get much fun in the traditional sense out of it anymore.

CrimsonWing693h ago(Edited 3h ago)

Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Abe’s Exodus, and Ocarina of Time are the only things from that list that I liked.

Here’s the 2023 game releases that I personally liked… and big releases that I didn’t care for:

- Dead Space Remake
- Wo Long Dynatsy
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
- Diablo 4
- Fire Emblem Engage
- Hogwarts Legcay
- Street Fighter 6
- Hi-Fi Rush
- Like a Dragon: Ishin
- Octopath Traveler 2
- Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters
- Final Fanatsy XVI (actually ended up not liking this, but it was still a big deal release)
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
- Lies of P
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Starfield (Ended up hating this one, but big release)
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (I’m an old-school Zelda fan, but didn’t really enjoy this game)
- Alan Wake 2

I mean, honestly I’ve never seen a year of major IP releases like that, ever.

Profchaos32m ago(Edited 29m ago)

Isn't it just a generational thing realistically.

I've been gaming since way back and I some of my favourite games go as far back as the late 80s for me each generation has a year or two of game changing releases one after another before an inevitable dry spell.

I kind of agree gaming had a different feel games hit different because we didn't have the internet nothing got spoiled and you really had to put in the effort to beat a puzzle which could set entire groups of people looking for a solution. But most importantly games were experimental and not as cookie cutter as today even basics like controls were not universal today r2 is shoot l2 is ads garunteed you can't deviate from that in a shooter back then it could of been square, R1 or R1 and circle nothing was standard.

But as time moves on a new generation picks up their controller they are going to be interested in different things that PS1 demo disc with the t Rex blew our primitive 16 bit brains back on launch but to kids today it's laughable.
The new gen of kids coming into to hobby seem to value different things to us there seems to be a huge focus on online play, streamers, gaming personalities, and social experiences, convience of digital downloads. To me I value none of that but that's ok like my parents not liking the band's I would listen to its just the natural cycle.

6 Fun Games Where You Actually Play As The Bad Guy

While the mainstream media always sees things turning in favor of the hero, here are 6 games that own being a bad guy.

Profchaos9h ago

Pretty much all of these games listed are based around a morality system you don't have to be bad and you don't have to be good.

It seems to have left out some real amazing games like red dead redemption 1/2,ass effect and true crime la/ny

Tacoboto9h ago

Armored Core VI?

Ok, I'm really missing something here. Just beat chapter 3 earlier this evening, unlocked A-rank Arena fights. I'm not seeing or sensing any branching paths or morality system and I've done every side mission and arena fight available to me up to that fight.

Is something big coming soon to branch the story?

banger888h ago

No mention of Grand Theft Auto? Saints Row (original trilogy), Manhunt? Also The Suffering (depending on the ending you get).
