Why We Should Not Remake Old Games

There is a difference between something that is classic and something that is nostalgic. Classic is meant to be something that is perfect or nearly perfect in the eye of the beholder while nostalgia is something that reminds someone of the previous happy experiences that they had previously. While many games are described as classic, they are more of a feeling of nostalgia rather than rereleasing a classic game for a new era.

depends on the game. remakes are an opportunity for younger gamers to play some good games for the first time. a remake cannot take away anything from the original. it is its own entity. the only way it could would be if george lucas was involved

While not everything should be remade there are exceptions. Like Freespace, or any space combat sim. Except X-Wing/TIE Fighter if LucasArts is involved in anything more than granting permission to use the license.

I would prefer new and original ideas, but there are a few games out there that need to brought into this gen.

Agree completely its time to bring new ideas, concepts, storylines, and above all else innovation to the gaming industry instead of spending time and money on remaking last gen games.

I think this person just wanted to tell everyone that he thinks ff10 is better than ff7, and that he doesn't care for diablo2.

I loved resident evil and metal gear solid as a kid, and I'm loving the remakes as a grown up kid, that's all I know.

Sorry buddy, Final Fantasy 7, and Ocarina of Time are classic, no way around that. Remake these old titles so that this generation of gamers can see exactly why it is crap.

The remake of Resident Evil 1 was incredible. I would love to see more remakes with high production value.

When a remake done right best example is RE1 then a classic can resurrected & enjoyed by old fans & introduced to a new generation of younger players than never have the chance to play it when it first came out, so I am all in for remakes of old classics as long they dont ruin them with wrong choices.

RE1 is by far the best remake because the original creator Shinji Mikami lead the team behind this project and did his best to make it shine again by today standards while keep the game how every1 remember it a true classic of PSX era.

So although I wish someday to see a remake for FFVII all shiny & sparkling I am not sure if SE can do it w/o Hironobu Sagakuchi on the team leading all this bunch of amateurs & incompetent fools SE have, & Mr Sagakuchi have his own company now it's not part of them anymore so how can this happen? :/ I cant think of a way, so we would never see a remake probably or even if they decide to do it, it will be really bad & I dont even want to think about it.
