NBA 2K13 Cover Athletes Officially Unveiled

StickSkills.com writes, "Now that fans have been unable to uncover the NBA 2K13 cover clues how 2K Sports intended, they have revealed the official cover athletes. As we had mentioned last week, the official cover athletes for NBA 2K13 will be Kevin Durant, Derrick Rose, and Blake Griffin."

this should have been the cover

ATi_Elite4314d ago

Blake Griffin is GARBAGE (except for Dunking)!!

Scratch out Blake and put in Rajon Rhondo instead. KD and DRose are cool!

Drake1174314d ago

Sorry dude 20 and 10 is far from garbage for a PF(or for any position). What do u want him to shoot 3s and pull up jumpers as a big man or something?

NYC_Gamer4314d ago

2K should have went with these 3 instead

King James
Wade
Bosh

stickskills4314d ago

They want to reach a wider audience though. Not to mention putting those three on the cover would cause everyone to say the Heat are "cheap" in 2K13.

Drake1174314d ago

I love Lebron but these days there's a whole lot more ppl that hate him then love him. So much so that it might actually effect sales.

gaden_malak4314d ago

Should have put refs in Heat uniforms.

Sitdown4314d ago

Yeah... Cause it was because of them the ball went in the basket. Had nothing to do with the refs... But OKC not taking advantage of the post.

guitarded774314d ago

Well, they were wearing OKC uniforms during the SA/OKC series so it would just confuse potential buyers.

On topic: They took the safe route a picked the the three big/young stars. That's okay with me because I don't give a crap about box art.

KMCROC4314d ago

Cover is fine as is, not need to shit on a great cover.

Outside_ofthe_Box4314d ago (Edited 4314d ago )

Do you know how many Lebron haters are out there? And because there are King LBJ haters, they in turn hate the team he is on and everyone on it too.

2K obviously chose "lovable" NBA stars on their cover on purpose. This also further hurts EA's chances on Live. xD

JoNaZ_RG4314d ago (Edited 4314d ago )

I agree with you 100%. It should be King James, Wade, and Bosh. They beat OKC badly so they deserve that spot. And if these 3 don't make it to the cover is because the person in charge with the game cover is a Miami Heat hater.

Hicken4314d ago

That as the stupidest comment I've read all day.

No, really.

In the end, it's a business decision. Which players do you think are gonna get more sales: the three from Miami, or three from different teams that people don't hate?

Yeah, I thought so.

I really don't know how I feel about this cover; great players indeed, but all Blake does is dunk nothing special there.

StarFox4314d ago (Edited 4314d ago )

your right about that all he does is dunk, he can barely post up, barely has any sort of presence on defense, can't even shoot a mid range jumper and can't shoot free throws for shit. but he was pretty clutch when it came to free throws in the playoffs i admit.

black9114314d ago

NBA Live 13 Must Have King James.

KMCROC4314d ago

King weasel won a ring cause of Dwade, cause on his own he suck.ed ass.

Sitdown4314d ago (Edited 4314d ago )

Name one player who on his own won an NBA title. Funny how LBJ sucked without Wade but won MVP without him, and made it to the finals without him...... Did Cleveland make the playoffs when LeBron left?

Gambit_the_White4314d ago

Hmm, seems like you're just a LeBron hater, because he was mindblowing throughout the playoffs. Wade himself sucked throughout most of the games, shot HORRIBLY, had a couple of good games. However, the main reason they won was because of Shane Battier, Mike Miller and Mario Chalmers. If those three hadn't had those crazy games, they wouldn't have won it, because even though LeBron was amazing, no one wins a championship on his own.

Outside_ofthe_Box4314d ago

LOL

45pts Eastern Conference Finals Game 6, Trip-Doub NBA Finals Game 5, that is all I have to say.

JoNaZ_RG4314d ago

@KMCROC,

Dwade is respected for all of his accomplishment. But King James is the total package. Didn't you just watch the finals. He carried the game.

Drake1174314d ago

OK...think. Look at Cleveland when they had Lebron...yes...now look at them the last 2 seasons. Plus idk if u were even watching the playoffs, wade really struggled, it was Lebron carrying.

Hmmm... So grab a player from the West coast, Midwest, and East Coast....guess it makes sense since none of these players are really disliked.

Dear EA: Stop making basketball games

No, don't stop. We need competition beetween sports franchises in gaming. Push on and don't stop or the 'winner' will become lazy

PapaBop2042d ago

EA and competition in sports games don't belong in the same sentence. They've had healthy competition in many different sports genres and the ones they could, they monopolised the licenses to effectively kill the competition. Poor Konami in PES were feeding off of scraps with their CL license.. EA went and bought that too. With them, there is no such thing as healthy competition.

2pacalypsenow2042d ago

"Since the release of the first NBA 2K game, EA have arguably been left behind in 2Ks dust in the basketball video game category."

I don't know about that, Nba live was the basketball game to get until Nba live 07 came out.

CraigGOA2042d ago

If you look at Metacritic NBA2K games have constantly outdone NBA Live. And a lot forget how much of a jump the original NBA2K was as it was only on the Sega Dreamcast which many gamers ignored due to pure ignorance and lack of knowledge on just how great that console was.

Minute Man 7212042d ago (Edited 2042d ago )

The last good ones were Live 04 n 05 for ps2 era n Live 06 last gen

Einhander19712042d ago

Dear EA just stop making games full stop.

XiNatsuDragnel2042d ago

EA stop making any games by that note.

The man who sold the world from MGS V? If any song is to be remembered from that game it's Here's to you by Joan Baez/Ennio Morricone. That scene gave me goosebumps.

NukaCola2835d ago

Stupid article. Music in games should be recognized for their impact like the crossing into Mexico in RDR. Not just tunes on the disc

Top 10 Basketball Video Games

Basketball is a sport that any child in America has played at one point or another. It was one of the key sports in gym classes across the country, and only continues to grow because it’s accessibility.

All you need is a ball and a basket.

If you’re like me, however, you’ll soon realize that you aren’t that great at basketball.

Despite this, you try and emulate Michael Jordan with the tongue hanging out, or, for kids today, doing three goggles after hitting a bucket. Still, at the end of the day, we may not have a future in the NBA.

But that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the game we love.

I would add a couple personal favorites from LONG ago. NBA In The Zone...cuz you could play a MJ (though they changed his number and name...which you could change back...it was STILL MJ...and it was before NBA Live 2000). Double Dribble...cuz you could finally see dunks! NBA ShootOut...cuz they finally added a bit of skill to shooting. Oh...and Magic Johnson vs. Larry Bird One On One...cuz it's the first one I ever played.
