Tekken creator “can’t continue to engage the negative” fans

Katsuhiro Harada seems to have reached the end of his patience when it comes to the constant complaints and demands of Tekken fans.

krisq4315d ago

Me too! Can't wait for TTT2!

jujubee884315d ago

I can't wait for a VITA version. Honestly, I think the best fighting game for PSP was "Tekken: Dark Resurrection". I must have spent hours on that game back in the day!

Ramas4315d ago

i hate tekken, it was not bad 10-15 years ago, but it not evolved at all and to modern standarts it sucks.
i will get dead or alive 5 which is much better.

krisq4315d ago (Edited 4315d ago )

I lol'ed at '...dead or alive 5 which is much better.' Played it at E3 and I'll wait until it hits bargain bin.

MaxXAttaxX4315d ago (Edited 4315d ago )

Well, hate all you want, but Tekken is one of the top most played competitive arcade fighting games in Japan and around the world. DOA is nowhere near it.

If I play Tekken 1, then 3, then 5 or 6, I'll easily notice the improvements/changes and "evolution".
But you can't just change the style of the game.

If cinematic camera angles and wet t-shirt physics is your idea of modern standards, then have at it.

MasterCornholio4315d ago (Edited 4315d ago )

Yes I like bouncing boobies as well.

But I dont play fighting games to gawk at them. If I want to see some nice boobs I have the MGSHD collection for the Vita to see Eva's . Only a few more days left till that happens.

agreed. i hate tekken also. i play SFxT on PC all the time BUT thats because its using the SF engine.

DOA5 will be next beat'm-up to buy. DOA's reversal system is by far the best in any game next to the WWE games.

I was expecting the fighting genre to evolve this gen, maybe become a bit more like the budokai tenkaichi series in terms of freedom. (which ironically were on the PS2)

Giant_Chibi4315d ago

budokai tenkaichi, Really? You're clearly a casual when it comes to fighting games. You don't even know what makes fighting games so appealing to the hardcore fanbase.

You're never going to see a game like that at EVO. Games like budokai tenkaichi have zero depth to their mechanics. It's all just casual fanfare. No real fighting game enthusiast is going to take it seriously. Next you're going to tell me gran turismo needs to evolve next gen by incorporating mechanics from burnout. Seriously, wtf are you thinking?

fyi, fighting mechanics have evolved this gen. If you want freedom, play blazblue: CSE. But, i guess you don't really understand what freedom means in a real fighting game. This game is all about options. You're rewarded on hit by reducing your opponents options and expanding yours.

BitbyDeath4315d ago (Edited 4315d ago )

Budokai Tenkaichi series has much more fighting depth than Tekken because it plays on a 3D level. Tekken is still on a 2D plane which limits it greatly in fighting capabilities/mechanics.

Have you even played any of the BT games before or have you just seen them as DBZ games and turned a blind eye?

Your comparison of GT vs Burnout is laughable, GT is a racing sim and Burnout is an arcade game. Why are you trying to compare them?

krisq4315d ago (Edited 4315d ago )

Hahahaha! You just made my day, bro.

AznGaara4315d ago (Edited 4315d ago )

His comparison of GT and Burnout are valid because Tekken is a FIGHTING game where as Tenkaichi is a BRAWLER.

Did you know that each face button in Tekken controls a limb meaning thats 4 different basic attacks? Did you know that those attacks become different attacks when pressed after a directional input? Did you know that combining those two things in different orders create combos? Did you know that certain combos can knock players to the ground or in the air allowing for a juggle-state which allows for more hits to connect? Did I mention that attacks can hit high, mid, or low causing the other player to actually think about how to block? Did you know that characters have different stances that elicit different moves? Did you know that some moves recover faster than others causing Move A to be less punishable than Move B? Did you also know that at some ranges that are different by A PIXEL some moves wont connect with the opponent? I did and I don't even play Tekken like some of the other people commenting.

Please... and your telling me Tenkaichi, a game where projectiles have no real properties and combo's are done with one button using easy timing has more depth than Tekken?

BitbyDeath4315d ago (Edited 4315d ago )

You would not last long in a match if you really think that.

If you want to win in Tenkaichi games then you need to know how to counter your attacker, not only that but you also need to know how to string combos together so that they have a hard time countering you. Every move in the Budokai Tenkaichi series can either be blocked, countered or dodged. You obviously haven't played any of them before if you think it is simply a brawler.

Also everything you wrote, the only difference is Tenkaichi uses two buttons to punch and kick as opposed to four. Everything else is exactly the same except the 3D takes it to the next level cause you then have objects throughout the stage you can use to your advantage. Not only that but you can also fly which adds even more dimensions of playing.

Tonester9254315d ago

@BitbyDeath I'm confused.

You want Tekken characters to be able to run around freely and use the environment while fighting like Yakuza?

That's not what Tekken is all about. They already started putting secret "weapon" attacks that which I don't really know how to feel about.

Tekken is way more complex than any DBZ game.

BitbyDeath4315d ago

@Tonester925, i'm not saying it has to be like Tenkaichi. When PS2 came along it changed fighters by adding sidestepping (MK4) and gave the environments a more 3D look and introduced us to the likes of Tekken Tag.

This gen nothing has really been accomplished. It's very much the same only with a little more polish.

Seems everyone here would rather games not evolve though...

SeekDev4315d ago

The dimensional plane doesn't matter as much as the actual fighting mechanics of the game. A 3D fighter is still only as good as its fight mechanics.

Dannycr4315d ago

If Tekken would have evolved, I'm pretty sure that everyone will be crying because "it is not the same".

People believe that a dev is supposed to just shut up and take it from behind when it comes to rants, but no, the customer is not always right, but most of the time is an A**hole.

NellyNel_7_1_34315d ago

Hey guys whatever happen to Tekken vs Street Fighter or Tekken x Street Fighter? Dont tell the game is cancel.

Tekken 8 Boss is asking Sega where the heck is Virtua Fighter 6

Everyone expected Sega to reveal a new Virtua Fighter title, namely VF6, during the 2023 The Game Awards, but that announcement revealed something else. One person in particular, who happens to be the head honcho behind the Tekken series, wants to know where Virtua Fighter 6 is.

Bring back Yu Suzuki plz

Rynxie128d ago

Yu Suzuki time is up. He's a dinosaur. He was great back in the days, but he's way too old school and that doesn't work in modern gaming. Look at his last two games.

Vader82128d ago

Even if you consider his last two games below par look at how many below par AAA games are being churned out by modern developers all year round. The video game landscape is still being dominated by these "dinosaurs'. Miyamoto, Kojima, Harada, to name a few. To me they know more what gaming is about than wanting to empty people's wallets.

Profchaos126d ago (Edited 126d ago )

Modern gaming barley works in modern gaming trend chasing is a huge element of modern gaming company A sees huge success with game X then everyone wants to make their own version they sink years into it and fail when battle Royale fever gripped everyone how many failures did we see I lost count or when every company had to have a mmorpg after wow struck gold or a looter shooter after borderlands

Sometimes having someone think differently to how the hivemind of modern gaming works is a good thing

neomahi127d ago

I want the Arcade Mode like the PS3 version had. You could earn all the unlockables through it, it was brilliant and lengthy! Then they did Virtua Fighter 5 Showdown which went to micro transactions and removed that mode. Lame.... It had online mode, which the PS3 version didn't have, but I'd rather have that Arcade Mode than the online the 360 and subsequent consoles has gotten.

So, thanks for advocating for us, yeah, Virtua Fighter 6 and Virtual-On as well. Cool to see the fighting development community as fans of each other. Will be getting Tekken 8 as well

autobotdan108d ago

We will see one in five years. Wait I dont want to wait 5 or 10 years. They should already be working on it right now to release in two years
