Miyamoto worried about reliance on games with guns

espite showing an interest in making a first-person shooter, Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto has expressed his concern about the sheer amount of games with guns that are released these days.

Simple fact about shooters is that when you think about how would you make your own. Ok you need guns maybe a ADS option and an enemy with a gun. The setting could be in the middle-east because its super easy to make up a reason why the US army is there. Not much effort right?

Now try a platformer. You gotta put quite a few weeks maybe months into what the enviroment is like and do you want the environment to be interact-able. You need to know what could make and break your games mechanics (like POP reboots claw which ruined the platforming). Also look at Mirrors edge; Controls must have taken a month alone to make a confortable layout for that sort of gameplay. Then you need to make areas which are hard to platform and require like 30 secs worth of non stop moving where 1 wrong move will result in death or having to start over.

Now this is a simple reason for why there are more shooters than any other genre of game. Plus if you wanna be down with the kids you gotta play 'em :3

He needs to play Demon's Souls and Dark Souls and acknowledge greatness. His statement is pretty accurate though, despite shooting in games being a fairly fun activity. It does get rather tired after a while though, which is why variety is always good.

The truth can really piss people off i guess. Every damn conference had shooters, and mass murder in them. Nothing wrong with that, but when you NEED to be told which trailer belongs to your favorite(key word) franchise because every other one looks the same, then it is too much. Miyamato is not the only one in the industry who thinks like this, far from it, and consumers should e aware of it also. Violent games can be fun, but when 10 year olds at Gamestop only know which murder game they want to play, then the industry needs to change. Frankly, i would love to see what people would say if this statement came from anybody besides Miyamato. Not a single person here is looking at this issue in a rational way.

Violent games are fine. But if every game is like that, it limits the growth of the Gaming Industry.

Think about the movie industry, people like R-rated films but they limit the amount of audience that is imitable to the film.
Whether you hate the Wii or not, or if you hate Casual games, or so-called gimmicks; this industry, like any other industry, needs great content for ALL audiences.

The films with the easiest chance for high money are films that can suit the whole family and have great content.
Before you say “Happy Feet” or “Happy Feet 2”-
I interject, that the “Avengers” was a PG-13 film, not R-Rated. I also add that most Disney Pixar films are great no matter your age.

The problem is that most True “Gamers” know this but the “Core” is all about over-specialization and die.
