Dead Space 3 Full Single Player Demo

For those of us who were worried about EA and Visceral catering to a wider audience for Dead Space 3, you need not to worry. The gameplay may have some changes, as Issac can now roll to avoid enemy attacks, and co-op is making its first appearance in the series. But, after watching the full closed-doors single player demo, I’m pretty sure that the fans have a lot to look forward to.

Universal ammo... bleh. And every enemy drops universal ammo? This will make the "survival experience" suffer.

There are some generic enviroments and look at the train sequence! Inspired by Uncharted 2, huh? I love Uncharted 2, but I think they should stick with the Dead Space universe.

Don't get me wrong, I am a huge Dead Space fan. I am not saying the game will be bad, but I am disappointed. Most of their fans is probably disappointed and thanks to EA. EA is killing another franchise.

What I read from Gameinformer is that even though it's universal ammo, don't expect like confetti. They also said not to waste your ammo, as drops are not as often as they seem. They're probably playing this on the easiest difficulty, which is normal for a demo like this.

I agree that universal ammo sucks but Dead Space 2 had item drops from enemies too so I don't know why it's now a big deal. I also didn't see what you're talking about with relating it to Uncharted 2 either. Is it that he wakes up after crashing or that no other game can do snowy environments now? Both are stretches. Dead Space 2 already had qtes too if that's what you mean. Also the environment looks like it fits with the rest of the Dead Space games imo but that's all in the eyes of the beholder I guess.

The game sounded worse when I only heard about all the changes but I am still generally disappointed. Especially with the action focus. I watched the gametrailers episode and Keighley constantly referred to it as an action game and not horror which is very disappointing.

Wingsfan244329d ago

Yea, I see your point. But when you think about it, you can watch Dead Space and not feel scared at all, that's how I am, but when you're the controller, then that tension fills in. The parts with the caves etc, that's going to freak me out simply because I have a fear of dark confined spaces, ironic haha.

I have no problems with enemies dropping itens. I was complaining about the universal ammo (which is already a bad thing) being dropped too often, which kills some of the "survival" aspects.

As for the Uncharted scene, I was talking about the train sequence at 3:10. Now this is even more action oriented.

As for the enviroments, I have problems with daylight settings in survival horror games (I don't really care about the snow). In Dead Space 1 and 2 you had dark enviroments, with blood on the wall, dead people/monsters on the floor etc.

I will say what is killing this game (imo):
-Universal Ammo (even on hard, it will make the game way more easier)
-Daylight settings
-Generic enviroments
-More action oriented
-Cover System (now you can take over and kill monstes at your on pace? come on...)
-Too much focus on new machine guns (that's what the interviews are saying)

and some other things.

I am very very disappointed.

The cover system automatically kicks in when fighting humans. You can't just use it against necromorphs.

Also, the one thing I noticed from watching the coop section of the demo is that machine guns take a lot of ammo to kill which make them not that good to use. Just like previous Dead Space games with the pulse rifle. If they have a bunch of different guns and do overemphasis them then that will suck though.

Thats what I wanted to see!!!

Looks great but I think this scene should have Issac Clark under moonlight rather than a daylight setting. Lesser light like moonlight creates more of a vulnerable and insecure feel to the player. Wide open areas alone kind of defeats these emotions a bit. So moonlight in this case would be good.

Hisiru4329d ago

That's exactly what I think.

Treian4329d ago

the universal ammo part and cover bugs me....but otherwise looks good

Bimkoblerutso4329d ago

Definitely seems to have a lot less of the "creepy" factor than the last two. Still looks like an excellent action game, but as with Max Payne 3, it's sad to see so many of these franchises losing a bit of their identity to more testosterone-driven action settings.

Though it's still very early to be making assumptions, I guess. This was obviously just a small portion of the game.

Why Dead Space 3 Will Be the Hardest to Remake

If EA and Motive Studio plan on remaking all the main Dead Space entries, they have to change a lot of what made Dead Space 3 so divisive.

Simple, do not bother with a Dead Space 3 remake. Rather have a new entry for Dead Space.

myfathersbastard412d ago

Yeah I agree. Make a dead space 3, but have an original story/setting. They’ve proven they can do the game justice, and I think they could evolve 2 in a good direction, keeping a similar tone. I’d love s Dead Space 2 and 3 though. The remake was fantastic. Top tier remake, up there with RE2.

jznrpg412d ago

Remaking 3 would need to be a reworked and somewhat changed remake as 3 was flawed in most peoples eyes and the worst entry.

Ninver412d ago

It's the worst in the series.

Dead Space 3, A Ten Year Reunion

WTMG's Kyle Nicol:

"Was Dead Space 3 really that bad?

Well, it’s a complicated question. Dead Space 3 is undeniably the weakest of the trilogy. It’s a game that deviates so far from the original formula, that it throws a lot of what made Dead Space special in the first place out of the window. Although, where it does make up for it is one of the best cooperative shooters on the market, even after all this time. Do I recommend playing this game ten years later? Hell yes. But make sure your expectations are in the right place. It has a lot of problems that bring it down."

They need to seriously continue this ip with a new entry. Even if it's just another movie I don't care I love everything about this game.
