Following Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix’s recent Tomb Raider trailer and E3 presentation, many have compared the new game to Sony and Naughty Dog’s Uncharted series. Crystal Dynamics Studio Head, Darrell Gallagher, however, says that the two games will feel different when you play them from start to finish, owing to smaller things that add up along the way.
Tomb Raider I, II, III Remastered is available now on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Lara Croft is back in a classic remaster of the original PlayStation 1 hit title. Is the remaster any good though?
We've gone on many adventures with Lara Croft. With another reboot in the making, Wealth of Geeks felt it was a good time to go down the nostalgia rabbit hole and remember the best of those tomb-raiding thrills.
For me, Legend should be alot higher (along with the other two ). Shadow, I enjoyed it, but has too much has fluff, as modern games tend to do. Playing the remastered series, and apart from the controls, is very good.
I really enjoyed the first 2 games, Legend and the first of the reboots and the rest I didn’t get into so I never finished.
Completely subjective list. I really liked Underworld, I preferred Lara's design. That said I loved the horror/uncharted feel of the reboot. I think all the TR games have strengths and weaknesses. None are objectively better in every way.
Polygon: "Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics launched a new website for the franchise on Wednesday — Valentine’s Day is also Lara Croft’s birthday — with another peek at the impending “unified” design for its action heroine. New artwork of Lara sporting a post-Survivor trilogy look that evokes her classic design supports the theory that the Lara we saw last fall in Call of Duty is basically the character’s future appearance."
Crystal Dynamics really going hard with the man face. They sure do hate feminine looks!
Great artwork but please…this unified timeline shit sounds awful
It won’t work
Classic Lara and Survivor Lara have completely different origin stories meaning they are two separate timelines you can’t unify together
I really don’t want Survivor Lara anywhere near Classic Lara.
As long as she had dual guns, and doesn't whine all the damn time. They really dropped the ball with the new lara, had such a good start and didn't know what to do with it.
The Call of Duty version?! Surely there is a Fortnite version they can use instead to really nail the feel.
main difference, you have boobs!
He says Uncharted borrows heavily from the old Tomb Raider games. I sort of disagree, I think Uncharted is more of an Indiana Jones style than it is Tomb Raider. However, I have not played the more recent TR games either, the last I ever played TR was back on PS1. So maybe it has changed a lot since then, maybe all the games prior to UC1 in 2007, were what Uncharted came to be like. Feel free to correct me! But the similarities between the new one, and Uncharted, are so blatantly obvious. Yes TR has a more serious tone, and is more of a story about survival, but the crazy action sequences, especially going down that waterfall, hitting EVERY single piece of wood in the process, and not hurting at all, just doesn't fit the game in my opinion.
Short story: This has a female; instead of humor, she will moan and cry - http://penny-arcade.com/com... ; ...
"And there are certain things the Uncharted series has done, which is borrowed heavily from Tomb Raiders [of] old"
Apart from them both being treasure hunters and the platforming which was done before TR anyway why do people still make it out that TR was massive inspiration for Uncharted. As I've said in my blog before ND got most of there ispiration from Iniana Jones and other action, adventure films then Tomb Raider. Plus it's not like ND are strangers to the platforming genre.
It might of had a little bit of influence but not as much as the new TR is borrowing from Uncharted.
It amazes me how people still say Uncharted borrowed stuff from TR...do people just repeat something they've heard off someone else.
The new TR looks great but all it really is, is a Uncharted game with a female lead. The quick time events, the massive life threaterning scenes which she just manages to get out of, the cover/gun gameplay is just like Uncharted. Even that scene where she's climbing up the plane wreckage reminded me of the train scene in U2
