Battlefield 3: Close Quarters review - PCGamesN

It’s an odd piece of DLC for the Battlefield games; one that rips out everything that sets Battlefield apart from other first-person shooters - the huge maps, the vehicles, the vast draw distances, and instead concentrates on mid-to-short range combat, using the full gamut of Battlefield’s armory.

It is, essentially, a riff on Call of Duty. Except, ya know. Better.

I gotta say, I love the new weapons but I hate the close quarters maps. Maybe they'll grow on me but they just art that fun for me right now.

They should. I'm playing since the early release and had the same feeling about them at the beginning. But after playing for a week they really grew on me. Don't get me wrong though, I still believe BF is all about vehicle warfare and large maps but it's a nice change of how you play. I really thought small maps would not work but I was clearly wrong. They do and they are great. Especially Operation 925.

Why bother with this when they will release Battlefield 4 this year? Save your money, the DLC is 1/3rd the price of the game.

What are you talking about? Medal of Honor: Warfighter is coming out this year not Battlefield 4. I had it bought for me by a friends of mine so I took it, Plus I play it daily so anything to keep it fresh is welcome.

Love the new maps. Not a bad one in the entire bunch, which is very rare for a map pack. DICE did a great job with them. The guns and new game mode are great too, although Gun Game does get stale if you play it for too long.

Usually I hate pay DLC map packs . They divide the community and their value is shit. But this one is actually different, what this map pack does it it allowed me to have a little CoD style gameplay in BF 3 when I'm in the mood for it. Plus the environmental destruction is fantastic at close quarters with bullets and explosives tearing everything apart. In short it made BF 3 more awesome.

Pandamobile4327d ago

Agreed. It's a great contrast to the regular BF3 maps in my opinion. It's got the pace and frenetic action of COD, but the beauty, gameplay and explosions of BF3.

And when I get tired out from that, I can always jump right back into the massive 64 person battles, and team based BF3 we all know.

RAYMEISTER4327d ago

u can only play this w/ premium right now right??

krisq4327d ago

Don't they get released today and tomorrow for everybody? 360 and PC got them yesterday.

Squad Deathmatch on close quarters really lets you know who your friends are, its awesome when working as a team, its like horde mode lol

hmmm I think there will be no old BF glory days for EA since they are loyal to their greediness and laziness :D

Knightofelemia520d ago

You're asking for a miracle with EA that will never happen unless they can exploit the money making schemes behind it.

We'll see what happens now that Zampella is overlooking the series.
