Crytek loves free-to-play, can’t wait to be exclusive

The studio responsible for Far Cry and the Crysis series is possibly already preparing the transition from a retail company to a free-to-play developer. It’s just a matter of completing the current contracts for other publishers: Crysis 3 for Electronic Arts, Ryse for Microsoft and Homefront 2 for THQ.

I think they will creatively shine when they go free to play.

Indie artists who are starting from bottom know what Im talking about

alexkayl4337d ago

I agree. Free from the strict demands of a global publisher they may aim for another level of creativity.

crytek loves everything that makes money for others. I think they need to focus on what they do for once.

GraveLord4337d ago

Good Riddance.

Only mediocre developers are forced into Free To Play. It means they can't make a $60 products worth buying.

alexkayl4337d ago

I don't think that's the case. It's more of a parallel business opportunity for many developers than the only escape. Surely Ubisoft isn't developing F2P Ghost Recon Online because they don't think that Splinter Cell: Blacklist or Watch Dogs have any chances of being successful, right?

NYC_Gamer4337d ago

That's not true Valve is making DOTA2 F2P and that company produced many hits

And u pay 60$ + each year for cod expansion packs. What's your point?

I was able to find games in the Vietnam dlc on ps3 the last week. There were articles on here about the server closure when it was announced in April

BF1943 is the only online MP game that I was genuinely interested in. Been playing since launch 14 years ago. Hate that I couldn't put in as much time to play as I'd hoped for during the final week.

I got really into 43 when I bought Bf3, and preferred it. Everything that I disliked or found annoying about Bf3, wasn't an issue in 43. Too bad they never bothered releasing it on PS4 or PC.

Dead Space 2...... I wasn't even aware that had multiplayer. Nevermind that it was apparently one of their best multiplayers!

anast133d ago

Once people stop buying micros, these companies close the doors.

Xenial133d ago

Dead Space 2 multiplayer had been hanging on for years - I'd boot my PS3 up to see some familiar names in lobbies. This will definitely be missed!

Shadow of Rome was so freaking good

Sashamaz366d ago

I'm still waiting for the sequel.

HyperMoused366d ago

Ryse was awesome, i have no idea why it wasnt recieved well and why we havnt seen another, Rome conquered so much, you could take the action anywhere, and it looked great when xbox one came out, now would be even better.
