Game: Sonic Generations

Available On: PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

Size: 646MB

Summary: Sonic Generations brings you the best of both worlds for fans of the retro and the new. This game divides in to two modes, modern sonic and classic sonic. Modern sonic is 3D all the way with bits and pieces of 2D plat forming. It plays like the good parts of Sonic Unleashed; it’s fun game play and keeps you entertained all the way through. There’s constant speed burst and different camera angles throughout the level so there’s never a dull moment. The games graphics engine uses vibrant detail but you won’t really get to enjoy it at 300MPH speeds. Now classic Sonic mode is where I get excited. To me it’s the equivalent of New Super Mario Bros. This is what the Sonic Team should of done in the first place. The momentum is right on point and the level has various routes to follow. There’s always a sense of speed and all at your control. They should keep building on this for the Sonic’s future. The entire game is in retro style even up to the music and enemy characters. Even the enemy combo jumps are back just like old times. Sonic Generations is for the old and new sonic fans out there. Give it a try.

Game: Spec Ops: The Line

Available On: PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

Size: 1.45GB

Summary: Third person shooter with a Gears of War cover system is what this games boils down to. It plays like a Gears of War meets Socom. The game takes place in the desert. You play as the leader of your squad and get to command your squad to take down enemies. The graphics are great but what I really like is the agility the soldier has. It mimics the Gears of War cover system but in a cool way, sliding into it like a baseball player. Your squad consists of two other men and there are various difficulty levels. Your character is equipped with both a handgun and a rifle. I prefer using the handgun, which was a lot more fun. The shooting and aiming is accurate and satisfying at the same time. There’s also melee attacks and if an enemy is on the ground you get to stomp his face, very similar to Gears. Give this game a try if you’re into Socom, Gears of War or even Uncharted.

Game: SSX

Available On: PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

Size: 1.3GB

Summary: SSX has been revamped for the new generation of snowboarders. As you jump into in you’re greeted with a rather extensive tutorial, you cannot skip it, just follow directions. As soon as that’s over you jump off the plane on to the snow mountain for one run. The game to me has a difficult learning curve. I mean sure you can ride around easy but get ready to use all the buttons to do tricks with either analog or face buttons. There’s a rewind feature like that of the Forza series. It’s a great addition especially to a demo so you can keep trying the game out. This is no pick up and play. You will have to know what you are doing to get do some cool stuff in the air. The mountain trail is full of various options to take and the music is pretty funky for a snowboarding game. There’s not too many snowboarding games out there, give this one a try with patience and you’ll get the best out of it.

Game: UFC Undisputed 3

Available On: PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

Size: 1.63GB

Summary: UFC Undisputed 3 is out and they waste no time getting you the demo. The background image is a solid kick to the face, awesome! The game’s graphics engine is superb. Every pro sports game should look like this. The most realistic faces and physiques I’ve seen in a video game. This is definitely a technical fighter although there are easy and more advanced analog control schemes either up and down movements or curving. With many options, difficulty settings and 2 players to choose from in each organization you can’t go wrong. Choose either UFC or Pride FC. Fight in the octagon when you choose UFC or in a huge like boxing ring in Pride FC. The Pride FC matches seem to have no time limit while the UFC fights have 5-minute rounds. Full presentation is here, from the main menu to the entrance of your fighters. Play by yourself or locally with a friend. The game looks better when fighting in the Pride FC ring because the ring is white and the bloodstains and fighters stand out. The commentary is very much alive and replays are great too. My favorite part was the submissions system. It’s so much fun. There is an octagon with two cursors (A & B). Cursor A tries to catch Cursor B to escape the submission. It’s a fun way to deal with the submissions system. Give this demo a try, and although you could pick up and play, you will get a lot more out of it by reading instructions.

I have one minor question. If the title of these pieces is called Demos Worth Downloading, what's the reason for putting a Worth Downloading section in each demo? Just a thought.

coolbeans4334d ago

He mentioned that being the setup on his other site, or....something like that.

X-Factor4334d ago

Yes. It's already been brought up, haha... It's being tweaked on my site but for here I just wanted to keep the series uniform.

Ranking the Devil May Cry Series

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "Upon finally finishing Devil May Cry 5 recently - after it spent several years on my “I’ll play that soon” list - I considered giving it a fittingly-named Late Look article. However, considering that this was indeed the final piece I was missing in the DMC puzzle, I decided to instead take this opportunity to take a look back at the entirety of this genre-defining series and rank the entries. What also made this a particularly tempting notion was that while most high-profile series have developed fairly evenly over time, with a few bumps on the road, the history of Devil May Cry has, at least in my eyes, been an absolute roller coaster, with everything from total disasters to action game gold."
