If you've paid attention to what they've about since their resurrection, this is anything but a surprise. A shame to those who've lost gainful employment (of course), but this was destined to be a precarious setup from the start.
They were great at one point...but times have changed...

I don’t think they were ever great financially. I doubt G4 ever really made that much money.
OG YouTubers weren't motivated by money, only passion. That's the primary difference.
The comeback was cool at first, but then every video turned into a 45min+ podcast. And while i enjoy a podcast from time to time, not EVERY video needed to be that

G4 was great. Used to watch it every morning before school. I remember watching that old school one called "Starcade" and my Dad walking out into the living room getting hyped to see it finally on TV again. So many good shows... until it became a rerun station for Ninja Warrior and Cops. RIP.
Sadly, G4 died a long time ago. Someone just finally decided to bury the corpse.
As one of the last writers at G4@Syfygames (the last vestige of their online games journalism), I felt this was coming for a while. I'm honestly surprised that it's taken this long, with how it was treated by the higher ups who own the channel.
Doesn't change the fact that it's a huge bummer though. :(
Rumors regarding the Nintendo NX have been explored, hashed, and rehashed on various social media sites. From postings on Reddit, to leaks that have surfaced on forums, there’s no shortage of speculation for Nintendo’s upcoming console. So much so that, the mere mention or sign of smoke can cause an immediate frenzy. Today was no different.
The NX itself seems to be a troll. Nintendo announced the platform a whole 1.5 years before even officially unveiling the thing, leaving for everyone else to be caught up in even the slightest rumor.
The damn thing launches in 7 months, they need to officially state what it is already. They gain nothing by continuing to remain silent on the matter for this long.
The announcement of the PS4 Pro, PS4 slim, the Xbox One S, and the highly anticipated X1 scorpio must've really made Nintendo rethink their strategy.
They're in a difficult situation. I just hope they can blow everyone away with the NX reveal otherwise it's game over. ;)

Yeah, because the strategy of micro and sony is so unpredictable that Nintendo finds it hard to counter, doesn´t it? just add more brute force to gpu... GENIUS!! poor Nintendo never see coming that guys. best thing for micro and sony is that fanboys doesn´t pay electricity bills.
The slims and the Pro aren't threats, and with Micro putting anything and everything that the XB console line has onto Windows 10 for PC gamers, it's debatable if that will be a cause for concern either.
That's not to say they're bad, it's just that everything except the Scorpio isn't even a legitimately new console.
Nintendo's got a nice opportunity to come out swinging with the NX this time, because it'll be the first honest to goodness whole new console since the PS4 and XB1 launched.
Why do they need to reveal it? To please some snotty kids on the internet? They have a Winter Holiday to sell for.
Anyway Kimishima said that they would talk about the NX in the Fall. September is only just touching the Fall.. the leaves are still on the trees.
Revealing it sometimes is a good thing. Look at the ps3 boomerang controller they reveal it, people disliked it and they re-did it.
I MEAN, they just had a direct which pretty much had 99% 3ds games right? I'm thinking they are trying to milk every single penny from that hardware before announcing this (handheld). I'll bet they reveal it in January, and release in march, same "2 months before release" thing Sony did. The only benefit in spring that I see for them is income taxes usually being collected during that time in the states, but that leave Sony to gobble up all console sales this holiday 2016.

To drum up legitimate interest in the damn product. Like I said earlier Nintendo gains nothing by continuing to remain silent on the issue.
It's bad enough we have no concrete data on their next console, but they seemed to have all but abandoned their current one. There aren't plenty of big Wii U games or even a price cut this holiday to maintain interest in the console market.
They've been acting very indifferent to the console market lately in more ways than one.

When have Sony ever unveiled a completely new platform only a mere two months before it launches? Sony has always had the common sense to unveil their platforms close to a year or more before they release them. If it's the PS4 Pro you're talking about then you couldn't be any further from the truth. PS4 Pro is just an extension of the PS4 whereas the NX is an entirely new product unto itself. Comparing them is like apples and oranges.
It's just bad business to prolong announcing their next big device. It's especially worse to allow the competition to gain an even stronger foothold in the market, making it that much more difficult to gain more consumers for yourself. They need to unveil the NX this year so that not only consumers' attention during the holiday season, but also different publishers' and developers' as well.
A hint of its codename and an official reveal aren't the same thing.
We still know nothing solid about the console outside of a few key games, let alone its real name, so we can't really consider it to be announced yet.

He's just from attack of the show and did e3 coverage with x play host. I also miss those shows it was the only show with news I needed to hear back then. Kevin now does a show call hack my life on true tv. Which is pretty good show learn alot of life hacks also he's the same as ever.
She fell off the face of the earth. Wonder what shes been up to. Munn is still around in movies and the occasional series. Webb not so much.

Not only that they lack common sense.
I bet they will believe a rumor about their family, work or whatever if someone randomly stated it on the internet. Instead of hearing from the people they trust, know or from the person themselves.
In this case people rather listen to attention seekers than Nintendo.

Kevin was the only reason I watched Attack of the Show honestly. Couldn't care less about the co-host chick everyone thought was so amazingly hot. I swear that dude made me laugh every episode. Haven't watched G4 in a couple years, but he'll definitely be missed there. I think with him leaving, that puts the final nail in the coffin for that network unfortunately.

Morgan is really the last original member to stay at G4. Kristin Adams, Blair Herder and Chobot are all good...but Kevin was the focal point of the network IMO. He was awesome.
G4 really should have cut the budget on cops reruns and gave Kevin a nice pay increase to stay around a bit longer...Luckily, he is covering the E3 show. It's nice to see him with everyone (minus Sessler) one last time.
Speaking of Sessler...Saw him on GTTV today being interviewed on Spike.
