Valenka4339d ago

Dear God, it looks brilliant!

hulk_bash19874339d ago

With Naughty Dog moving on from Uncharted to TLOU looks like Laura is just in time to fill the void. Game looks amazing so far, can't wait.

Yi-Long4339d ago

... the voice-acting is kinda annoying, plus small stuff like her hair not hanging down when she is, seems a bit 'sloppy'.

Also not sure if this will bring back the 'exploration' adventure aspect of the first games, as it seems much more a lineair survival-game.

I DO look forward to the bow, though. That could be very sweet.

However, the trailer hasn't really 'wowed' me as much as I hoped it would.

crxss4339d ago

@yi-long haha there's a lot of scenes when her hair should be moving but it just stays perfectly in place (besides the ponytail). gotta give props to the Croft mansion's hairstylist

Yi-Long4339d ago

... she should really stay far away from all those flaming torches! :P

4Sh0w4339d ago

Everything looked great to me, this is easily the best trailer I've seen in awhile.

starchild4339d ago

I was already a big fan of the Tomb Raider series, but WOW this looks absolutely amazing. I am seriously impressed. Gameplay, graphics, characters, setting...all of it stunning.

BISHOP-BRASIL4339d ago

@Yi-Long

You're not alone bro. I'm also not impressed. The trailer started good and I too hope that bow hunting and the whole surving theme is a concern throughout the whole game, but the moment she got a gun it went "shooter-ish" to me... Have I just saw bullet time there?

It's just a trailer and I don't want to read too much into it, but I really hope that the exploration, platforming and survival are still the main points of this game, not shooting baddies.

SuperLupe4339d ago

Is it me or is gaming getting better and better. I mean wow just wow, what a trailer !

JokesOnYou4339d ago

Wow, considering me and old Lara go back like babies and pacifiers, its good to see this game is shaping up to be one helluva comeback.

Damm just go easy on my girl, don't want to see her all bruised up.....give 'em hell Lara, give 'em hell!

This reboot looks like it's taken major inspiration from Uncharted, but who cares? Uncharted is a great franchise, and Tomb Raider would work well under it's mechanics and aesthetic. I'm psyched for this - bring on March next year.

WrAiTh Sp3cTr34339d ago

WTF? UC was inspired by 2 things which are pathetically obvious: Tomb Raider and Indiana Jones. So let's not start acting like inspiration has only started when this trailer was shown.

On topic: I'm really impressed with what I see and it only makes me wonder more about how next gen consoles games will be.

hulk_bash19874339d ago (Edited 4339d ago )

@F7U12

Youre either too young to have ever played a Tomb raider game or youre just trolling. Cause as much a I love Uncharted (I own and have beaten all games on crushing, including golden abyss) but Tomb Raider is a classic back in the PS1 days. Nice to see it gcoming back with a vengeance.

dirthurts4339d ago

Yeah, Tomb Raider has been platforming, exploring, and shooting up baddies way longer than UC.
Either way, I'm a huge Tomb Raider fan and I'm totally amped to get a chance to play this.
It looks really great.

miyamoto4338d ago (Edited 4338d ago )

Does any one notice the character designs are designed not to be "realistic" but rather cartoon styled like the old TR games?

And looks like Lara had been dating Nate hence a lot of QTE sequences.

But at least 360 only gamers, if they are interested & play this game, will get a taste of Uncharted-ish game play experience next year, which is good.
Just not the graphical and animation polish of Uncharted 2 & 3.

but I think the survival horror element will work because they stripped her off with her acrobatic & super powers.

Any on-line multi player?

WrAiTh Sp3cTr34338d ago

You haven't played the game yet so I can't take your statement serious.

Game looks incredible, probably PC version. Hope consoles look this good also.

Spenok4339d ago

Seriously, this looks amazing. What looks like some amazing gameplay with awesome set pieces, and story driven to boot. I am VERY excited.

user54670074339d ago

Looks great

It draws a lot from Uncharted especialy that bit when the plane is falling down while she's falling down the hill

...reminded me from the train scene in Uncharted 2

Patriots_Pride4338d ago

Why does everyone keep saying it takes this from UC?

Have they not played Tomb Raider on the PS1?

user54670074338d ago (Edited 4338d ago )

Maybe because the developers even said themselfs they were taking inspiration from Uncharted

You know you get a lot of people saying "Oh Uncharted copied TR" but the fact is it draws more from Indianna Jones and other films rather then games...especialy Tomb Raider

I think people have it in their head because Nathan Drake is also a treasure hunter that it copied Tomb Raider because she was one. I mean you didn't see Lara run behind cover while fiering an AK wave after wave of enemies did you. Tomb Raider was more of a puzzle game then a action packed TPS

I think Uncharted looked more to film for inspiration rather then games like TR, it might of drew a little insiration from it but only to the point where it evolved what Tomb Raider was about....thats why TR: Legends and Underworld were left in the dust while Uncharted got critical acclaim

Now Tomb Raider has fallen behind it's obviously going to look up to Uncharted of what to do and the reason for this is because Uncharted is basicaly what Tomb Raider should of been this gen.

So yeah...I really don't get peoples comments like yours, why get all defensive and say that...are you Tomb Raider fanatics who are in denial that Tomb Raider became a shadow of it's former self and Nathan Drake stole Lara's crown.

rjdofu4338d ago

@patriots_pride: remember that this one is a reboot, it will not be the same as the old one.

SPAM-FRITTER-1234339d ago (Edited 4339d ago )

this just shows how irrelevant exclusives like uncharted are.

3rd party devs can bring the same quality without being tied down to a certain company.

DigitalAnalog4339d ago (Edited 4339d ago )

I won't deny the quality the trailer produces. But for so many years in development, the animations and other effects are still not up to polish.

As a side note, I was unimpressed by the fact they need to include "set-pieces" that Uncharted made so famous. What happened to the isolated theme we were teased about? I want puzzle-based platform and exploration gameplay I used to love back in the PSX day.

XabiDaChosenOne4339d ago (Edited 4339d ago )

@SPAM- Fritter -_-.....

ash_divine4339d ago

@Spam...

And yet here you are talking about Uncharted instead of Tomb Raider. Yeah, super irrelevant...

I also love how you assume it's the "same quality" as UC from just seeing a simple trailer.(LOL!)

And... screw it, I'm not gonna waste too much energy on obvious troll.

Outside_ofthe_Box4338d ago

LOL

That's like saying CoD shows how irrelevant Halo is lmao.

How does this trailer all of a sudden make Uncharted and other exclusives irrelevant? Exclusives aren't ONLY for maxing consoles out, you do realize that right?

Its sad that Square Enix now relies on Eidos games for money. Not that am dissing Eidios, just their should be a balance.

They have given up hope in their ability to make good japanese games.

StraightPath4339d ago (Edited 4339d ago )

wow this looks incredible, dont forget uncharted was inspired by Tomb Raider to begin with. All done before Uncharted. This could show how it is done.

Patriots_Pride4338d ago

Try telling that to the pimply kids here who swear TR is coPying UC.

TBM4338d ago

it looks great and i can't wait to play this, but i just can't believe how petty some gamers are now i loved TR back in the day. i love UC for giving me the super cinematic feel, and now this new TR looks to up the ante cinematic's wise makes me very happy to be a gamer.

the clowns arguing how inspired who is just plain foolish or are just fanboys who dont own a particular system. enjoy the damn games you nutters.

Tapewurm4338d ago

Yes it looks very promising... Definite preorder now. Can't wait til March now :) Hard to believe the first game came out so long ago.

chadachada1234338d ago

I agree, though I hope that her speaking while she's alone is almost entirely just within her head.

And not freaking annoying like the Far Cry 3 burning-building trailer where the protagonist wouldn't shut the hell up >.>

Veneno4338d ago

Game looks okay. The story is weak as hell. Terrible writing. "You're a Croft!" - that line made me cringe. It's from a children's movie or something. Looks like Square took lessons from Naughty Dog in everything but good writing.

Also there was a shot of that thug trying to feel up laura, then she slugged him. Don't you think the dude that tied her up and hung her from the cave cieling in the beginning of the trailer probably raped the hell out of her?

Overall the game seems like it will take itself way too seriously.

Very great trailer!!! but I think Dishonored stole the show for me!!! I thought that game was running in 60 frames per second. but still Tomb Raider looks like a Day one buy for March 5, 2013. Not sold on Star Wars 1313 though, cause they have already created a Bounty Hunter game during the PS2, Gamecube and Xbox era.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...

DeadlyFire4339d ago (Edited 4339d ago )

I look at Star Wars 1313 as potential fundraiser for Battlefront 3 so I am in. :)

Undoubtedly Lucasarts has more Star Wars titles in hiding, but they can't reveal all of them right now.

One of them I suspect to be Star Wars TOR for Wii U. As its very strongly hinted that Wii U is getting a Lucasarts MMO themed game.

This trailer still surprises me. Its an evolution of the old Tomb Raider by far. Lots of potential. Although there is also potential they go to far with some things, but you never know just yet.

dark-hollow4339d ago

and my faith in the tomb raider franchise has been redeemed! :D

The Best Tomb Raider Games Ranked

We've gone on many adventures with Lara Croft. With another reboot in the making, Wealth of Geeks felt it was a good time to go down the nostalgia rabbit hole and remember the best of those tomb-raiding thrills.

I do agree that Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness was the worse one 😂 I remember playing some of it and I took it back. That game was just awful in every way. I bought it used at gamestop and glad they had that 7 day return policy for used games 😂

Pyrofire9553d ago

Would it be worth saying why?

ZeekQuattro53d ago

Simple. He's been hating on the Tomb Raider reboots for years. I can't imagine seeing them at the top of a best TR game list let alone being on the list in general sitting well with him because of it.

-Foxtrot53d ago

Zeek

“Hating”

No no, just pointing out how TR mutated into a generic action adventure game losing the appeal of what it once was when it was more about puzzles and platforming over going Rambo, slaughtering waves of enemies

But hey, continue being a dick and speaking about me like I’m not going to see the comment.

MeatyUrologist53d ago

Foxtrot, I'm curious if you have played the most recent games. Sure the 2013 reboot was hugely focused on combat, but each follow up became less and less about combat to the point where outside of a few large scale story missions I don't even remember combat being a part of shadow of the tomb raider. Shadow was so puzzle focused it actually was a bit much for me and I love the TR puzzles.

I still feel like Rise was the best of the series and I was a huge fan of the originals. To me it struck the perfect balance of exploration, platforming, puzzles, and combat. Not saying your opinion is wrong I'm just curious what you think they should have done different. Games do need to evolve somewhat to stay relevant. Would you prefer small linear jumping platform levels like the original?

RavenWolfx54d ago

I would agree Rise for 1 and the reboot as 2. Shadow is a bit high, though.

Sonic188153d ago (Edited 53d ago )

I think Shadow wasn't even develop by crystal dynamics. I thought it was the worse in the new trilogy

Pyrofire9553d ago

That's right. Shadow was developed by Eidos Montreal who who went and made Marvels Guardians of the Galaxy next. (Great game)
Meanwhile after Rise of the Tomb Raider, Crystal Dynamics made Marvels Avengers. (bad game)

MeatyUrologist53d ago

Agrees. First two are correct but Shadow should be around 5-6.

terstomp53d ago

For me, Legend should be alot higher (along with the other two ). Shadow, I enjoyed it, but has too much has fluff, as modern games tend to do. Playing the remastered series, and apart from the controls, is very good.

jznrpg53d ago

I really enjoyed the first 2 games, Legend and the first of the reboots and the rest I didn’t get into so I never finished.

robtion53d ago

Completely subjective list. I really liked Underworld, I preferred Lara's design. That said I loved the horror/uncharted feel of the reboot. I think all the TR games have strengths and weaknesses. None are objectively better in every way.
