OXCGN:
"When this time of year comes around, our thoughts begin to condense and our vision begins to narrow: E3 is right around the corner.
If we choose to come out of this daze, we may not enjoy the circumstances in which we may find ourselves, such as an annoyed OXCGN Editor in Chief demanding that I produce an article that isn’t a review.
My thoughts immediately read, “I feel as if I’m trapped inside a journalistic prison.” And then it hit me!
Here are, in no particular order, some of gaming’s best prison levels (also known as “Places I Hope To Never Visit”)."
These groundbreaking video games changed gaming forever and drew in scores of fans in the process.
From first-person espionage thrillers to the original installments of beloved franchises, check out the greatest retro video games we recommend for anyone.
I’d have taken a few of those out. Prefer Sonic over Sonic 2. Outrun should be in there. Maybe even Pong as millions of people had fun with that even if it was repetitive. Final Fight pipped any Streets of Rage game, although Streets of Rage had the better soundtrack. Too many to list l guess. To me, retro gaming is the 1980s, maybe going into early 1990s.
Given the medium's wild diversity, this primer of the essential video games everyone should try is a good place to start.
I can't fk with this list. They missed on alot of games probably before the writers times. Also I know people loved some portal but I was never a fan.
Tomb Raider 1
Driver 1
Abe’s Odyssey
FF6
King of Fighters 94
Mortal Kombat OG
LINK 2 the past
Street Fighter 2
Resident Evil 1
Infinite but not the first two games? Witcher 3 but not the first two games?? GTA V but not literally any of the games before it??? Portal 2 but not the first? Also if you're going to play Shadow of The Colossus play the remaster and not the remake. Can't say I disagree with the list but my man it's all over the place.
Awesome list! Hot take on Fear (and it's hard af expansion Persaus Mandate!) Bioshock Infinite is stellar, so is the Witcher 3 and you nailed it by having Ocarina of Time. So many fantastic games! Gotta play 'em all! Next one on my list is Prey after I beat Dead Space 2 and Splinter Cell Conviction.
Good list. Ahh, Vorkuta...
Black Ops probably takes the cake for me, but that Metal Gear scene makes me pretty nostalgic, too.
The Suffering on Xbox was a pretty neat prison game. I remember shiving a lot of people.
For me nothing beats those haunting old fashioned hospital or orphanage levels that seem a lot like prisons!
Actual prisons? Chronicle of Riddick...?
The prison in the Demons Souls level "Tower of Latria" (3-1) was so atmospheric and haunting, the moans of the demented and tortured prisoners, the sweet but chilling singing of one prisoner that gets louder as you get closer, the banging of steel from another one, the bell ring of the deformed wardens.... doubt i'll forget it anytime soon.
Chronicle of Riddick was pretty memorable too.
