Hopefully, they would be encouraged to push more localized games in the future.

360GamerFG4357d ago

Right. . .it flopped, hard! Even SOCOM 4 did better than that. Barely, but still.

vividi4357d ago

some people like the word flop to much they must be depress LOL, well yakuza is for certain type of people and is a good game overall, I am playing right now yakuza 3 and Im really enjoying the game

P_Bomb4357d ago (Edited 4357d ago )

I wouldn't call 550,000 a hard flop in this case. Yakuza has ALWAYS been a niche title, and Dead Souls is even nichier.

A non-canon, critically average "what if" zombie filler I guarantee didn't have a AAA 50 million $$$ budget. Yet somehow it sold more than Dark Souls and the Witcher 2 on the 360 and the last Motorstorm on PS3.

Easy money for Sega. I'll probably skip it though 'n' just wait for Yakuza 5.

"Easy money for Sega. I'll probably skip it though 'n' just wait for Yakuza 5"

Me too. But its gunna be a while. Yakuza 5 will probably hit Japan next year(and THATS just being hopeful), which means that we won't see a U.S release until 2014(IF Sega feels that its worth releasing in the States).

I'll def be playing Sleeping Dogs while I wait.

kratos1234357d ago

@logic
Sleeping dogs looks just really cool I didn't like it under the wings if activision because the developers didn't get enough freedom from them se just let them go all out . Stupid move on my opinion from acti ,dumping a game like dogs and going with the likes of prototype 2

dc14356d ago

Dont skip it.
its actually very good (once you get use to the shooting mechanics )

And extremely fun:
Y3 is a great story.
Y4 is simply a classic and should be enjoyed by all fans of the series.
Y-DS is just pure fun on wheels.

Kamikaze1354356d ago

Looks like you can't tell the difference between the two games and how obvious it is that one needs to sell a lot more than the other to be successful. One has dubs and one doesn't and one has online play while the other doesn't (cost of servers).

Whatever the circumstances -- "third party games don't sell well on Nintendo platforms," is a myth.

There's a lot of third party titles which've also under-performed on the two current HD consoles (PS3,Xbox 360).

Just recently: Sydicate Wars (which is a shame, because the demo played well).

MySwordIsHeavenly4357d ago

It's third party, but it has a first party character in it.

miyamoto4357d ago (Edited 4357d ago )

it may be published by Sega in the west but its funded and made by Nintendo & Sega & published by Nintendo in Japan

so its very much a first party exclusive title, not third party people

Just measuring a game's successes & quality based on sales figures alone is a pretty broken logic tbh.

P.S..Gamers should make an intelligent informed decision based on an accurate logic not a broken one.

Cheers Gamers & Happy Gaming!

The 7 Best Sonic the Hedgehog Games: Racing through Time

Sonic the Hedgehog has a long and turbulent history in videogames, but which are the best games featuring the blue bur?

Rebel_Scum73d ago

Generations over Mania? Please… Generations doesnt have any new ideas in the levels/bosses.

Also a top 7 of Sonic games shouldn’t have any 3D crap and contain at least one of the 8-bit titles.

Sonic CD getting snubbed is weird. Number 1 is definitely interchangable between Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

Snookies1273d ago

Nothing wrong with putting Generations over Mania. Generations had a lot more to it. Mania was just a bit too short, despite how amazing it was. They're both top-tier Sonic games though.

Profchaos73d ago (Edited 73d ago )

I don't think mania was to short given 1,2,3, knuckles were between 1 and 3 hours long.

Mania was 5 hours roughly

However i say the originals feel more repayable because they are so short

Profchaos73d ago (Edited 73d ago )

The 8 bit games were pretty bad overall do you mean the 16 bit ones

Rebel_Scum73d ago

Nope. Sonic 1 & 2 on the master system were great. Dont confuse these with the game gear versions either.

Profchaos73d ago

Top 7 for me
7 cd
6 mania
5 Frontiers
4 sonic 3
3 sonic 1
2 sonic and knuckles
1 sonic 2

persona4chie73d ago

Sometimes I feel like the Sonic Advanced games just didn’t exist with how much it’s always forgotten 😭

Chocoburger71d ago

Even as a Sonic fan, I didn't really care for those games, and getting the Chaos Emeralds were freakin' horrible. Even with an emulator and save states, I didn't have the desire to try. I also didn't like most of the levels or bosses either. Unfortunately, DiMPs aren't good at making Sonic games.

Why the Separation Between Modern and Classic Sonic is a Double-Edged Sword

The divide between both iterations of Sonic is now reaching spin-off territory, and the way Sega is handling it is both a blessing and a curse.

Sonic Handheld Games that Need Remasters after Origins

BLG writes: "With the success of the films and the promise of Frontiers, it’s possible that we’re ushering in a new golden age of Sonic the Hedgehog. While Sega is looking forward, the company is also looking back. It’s giving us Sonic Origins, a retooled collection of Genesis classics. However, this package fails to provoke a burning question: what’s the best Sonic handheld game?"
