DigitalBattle: "Kickstarter was supposed to foster new developers, artists and filmmakers. And now it’s becoming just another funding scheme for the established guys"
OVERRIDER is a new sci-fi roguelite about hoverboarding and smashing robots, and there's a Kickstarter campaign to help get it funded.
Cinnabunny and Time is Honey are currently up to be crowdfunded on Kickstarter right now. They're both adorable.
A Kickstarter campaign for Scrylight, an AR game that lets players hunt ghosts, is launching in October.
Kickstarter is all great now but I have a feeling it won't be long before there will be abuse and milked out.
Hate to say it but I agree. Basically KickStarter is for the arrogant who can't get a publisher to fund them but have blind fans who will support them.
Shame. I wanted to see new stuff.
"Imagine how many games could have been funded with that money, games made by new and up and coming developers. "
Being new, up and coming developers is synonymous with having a lack of funding. Most people are not willing to put money into people who haven't proven they can pull it off. These "new developers" may well be asking funding for a project that they never intend to complete, or think they can just come in and make a triple A game.
Personally, I would much rather put my money into Tim Schafer, whom I know will actually finish the project, and see it through to release.
Kickstarter is there for anyone who has a viable creative project, regardless of status in the industry.
"Of those $3 million Schafer raised, dozens of smaller indie teams could have been funded to create games of all sorts."
That $3million wouldn't have gone to the other projects anyway you idiot... People do not just go on Kickstarter close their eyes, click on a random page and donate to that project...
Carmageddon is getting funded through Kickstarer :)
