Why PlayStation Vita Criticisms Are Premature

Of course its too early. We will probably get to E3 and see that PSV has a pretty strong lineup of games coming from the West (well hopefully).

As long as the system has the games to justify its cost then its ok.

But I really want to see what PS Suite provides. I really do hope there are mainline developers on board for stuff tp release ,like EA with Dead Space Mobile or its Mirrors Edge game. Sure these might be old but not everyone wants to play titles like Dead Space with just touch screen controls.

I totally agree. Unfortunately, it's become a norm in this generation of this industry. It's all about sales mainly. If some product doesn't launch selling millions and millions, it's apparently dead.

History repeats itself and people refuse to look back and see. "PS3 is doomed"... NOPE. "3DS isn't selling well"... Gets price cut, better games and begins to sell better.

The Vita will do fine, and it already has good games and features. Things will only get better.

I wish all Vita games would have a demo. There's some games I might buy but they don't have a demo. Is Mortal Kombat good? I'd like to try it out. Come on developers, put out a demo.

Yes, Mortal Kombat is good. Actually, it is great. It truly shows the great potential of the system. If you are debating it, I say get it. I agree that a demo should be there, but with enough internet research, I went ahead and bought. Completely worth it.

This Gen taught me being an early adapter Is not always the best move...put the I have a Ps3 with BC to the side.
I brought a Ps3 to play Ps3 games simple.

If I get a Vita a year and a half or two from realise the Vita library should be pretty fine games should have dropped In price aswell as the vita and I couldn't care about how old the game Is I'm playing my reality Is different to yours and It's a new reality for me at a reasonable price and I will feel less let down with a bigger library...shiit the psp Is still doing It's thing why would I buy a Vita now?

I bought a Vita with a tax rebate so it was fine, but if I'm honest I haven'y really played it in a while as there aren't ant games I wan't that are currently available. Don't get me wrong though, it's still awesome to play.

Not attacking Sony but making constructive critique.

Sony has always been a very slow company. Makes me scratch my head all the time. Maybe its a Japanese thing.

Sony has to change.

Focus on gaming division more and more. As its the only department that is doing good.

Focus on FEW products with high value. Like Apple and Nintendo does. The only company that can afford to spread out and go wide on products is Samsung (even if their TV division has taken a loss too)

What is with the numerous amount of new exclusive game titles that has NO strong demographic appeal? Where is your answer to Mario and Sonic? Where is your premium call of Duty killer? Stop the forgettable Move titles. make a premium Skyward Sword Killer.

PS Vita needs to have its basic internet capabilities on par with tablets and smart phones.
Its CPU, RAM & GPU is on par with the New iPad 3.

Sooner or later Sony will be down to its PlayStation business. Its the only division Apple, Nintendo, M$ and Samsung cannot touch...

That would increase the price of the product, pushing it out of financial reach to much of Sony's target audience.

If they can afford to put a Facebook, Four Square app etc why not a decent web browser app or YouTube app?
They should not cost that much & are vital to gaming.

A browser is not vital to gaming. While I can concur, a YouTube app would be nice and I'm getting a little ticked at the overall lack of remote play support for PS3 games, I don't see the need for the browser.

You’ve been quite happy to bitch about people pirating games on PSP, and have been even happier to pull games people have legitimately bought to stop piracy. You have in your hands the first legitimately worthwhile portable gaming experience. And you are completely and utterly blowing it.

The recent travails of your gaming divisions have punched you in the face so many times that you look like some sort of freakish, multi-eyed panda. How about you shove some of the hundreds of thousands of dollars you put into suing teenagers into getting great developers to make great games? How about you give up trying to fight those who work around your DRM?

How about you look up and see that you are currently the potential ruler of the premium portable market?

Phone gaming has overtaken you and Nintendo. That’s fine. Let them have their 99 cent games, let them be 5-minute experiences, let them enjoy it. That’s great. They’ll own these devices whether Vita exists or not. It’s a different market. Let them have it.

Make your platform the one that people use to develop interesting, deep portable experiences that suck people in and don’t let them go. You have the processing and graphical power to do something different, with absolutely nobody in the market who can compete.

Use the ferocious profit of your life insurance division to create the Blu-ray of portable gaming. Apple has the low-end. You don’t want it. You have a history of creating luxury brands like Sony Cierge and Vaio. Make Vita the next. When gamers want to take their PS3 with them, give them Vita.

Make a loss on bringing the heaviest hitters to the platform – get EA making Madden games every year, get a Call of Duty game, get another God Of War, give Tim Schaefer a few million dollars, Square-Enix, give Notch his own office right next to Kaz Hirai. Tell homebrew people to tear the bloody thing apart – you cannot and will not stop piracy.

You will own the market, just like you did with the first PlayStation. It’s in your hands to take this opportunity to knock Nintendo out. You have created the most endearing piece of portable gaming hardware ever, and you are wasting your time and money on stupid things. You have the chance to make a stunningly successful, separate brand.

If you don’t take it, you deserve to lose.

I think people's problem with the Playstation Vita is two-fold.

People want something more powerful than the 3DS, better graphics, better battery life, more processing power but they want it at the price of the 3DS or lower. That's not the way the world works. You don't gripe that a Ferrari should cost the same as a Focus, do you?

Many of the haters also feel that the Vita's demographic is already satisfied by the iPhone/iPad. These are probably the same people who think that casual games are killing the industry. Yet then they complain about the Vita not having App Store like games, or having a crippled browser.

So with all of these criticisms that they have - everyone must agree with them. They must agree because how could they ever possibly be wrong about anything, ever? So the Vita must be failing, because who would actually buy such a fail device?

This is a gaming device, not a tablet/smartphone. That's like blaming a company for making a DSLR camera when most smartphones have a camera built in. Sure, the smartphone might get the job done, but the DSLR will always be the choice of enthusiasts.
