The Ps2 port wasn't exactly great, still it's a good opportunity for Human Revolution fans who missed out on the original.

NastyLeftHook04374d ago

how was it not good? i would understand madden 2009 for ps2 vs madden 2009 for ps3 but this no way...

Dark_Overlord4374d ago

The PC version was a lot better, but the PS2 version was a very good port (I own both)

PhantomTommy4374d ago

The (already poor) graphics actually looked worse on Ps2 and the control scheme had to be greatly simplified to work on controllers meaning alot of time is spent in menus rather than the game, It's still one of the best videogames ever made and it sounds like you never played it before so I'm sure you will enjoy the Ps2 version just fine

All of the levels in the PS2 version were split into multiple segments with loading screens in between, unlike the PC version which had large seamless levels. The loading times were a bit long too. The segmented design and constant loading screens is definitely the biggest downside, and after playing the PC version, it's hard to go back. The levels are pretty much exactly the same, but having a big seamless area is much more immersive.

Controls were also a bit weird. Graphics were worse. There were also some framerate issues.

Keep in mind though that my first completion of it was on the PS2, and even then I thought it was one of the best games I've ever played.

I've heard from Deus Ex fans that the graphics are actually IMPROVED (in some ways) on the PS2 port, due to it coming out 2 years later, and the PS2 being newer hardware at the time. The fact that the levels are split up due to RAM constrictions is a big downside, however.

damnit any word if this might make it to the US store? i absolutely love this game.

never got a chance to play the original Deus ex until it came out on PS2 back in the day. Poor port or not, it was awesome! and the reason I jumped into the entire series.
I actually wish they would do a remake of the original now that human revolution is out.

Dark_Overlord4374d ago

It was a very good port, they had to scale it back for the PS2 (Some areas are much smaller) but other than that it was still great :)

I'd love them to do a HD version, maybe even a remake with the DXHR engine :)

Deus Ex Deserves Better Than Being A Scapegoat For Embracer's Screw-Ups

Hanzala from eXputer says, "After multiple delays, cancellations, and ownership changes, the misfortune of Deus Ex continues; this gem of a series deserves better."

maelstromb71d ago (Edited 71d ago )

One can only hope at this point Embracer will need to generate an influx of cash flow, and what better way to do so than to sell off some of its IPs... namely Deus Ex, to a competent and talented studio capable of delivering a game noteworthy of the name in future. And thinking about it further, I don't know why Embracer would sit on the IP vs sell it if it means staying in business or not.

I liked the Red Dead 2 opening, certainly didn’t feel like a slog to me, but I enjoyed that whole game so for those who were just expecting ‘GTA but with cowboys’, that was probably not the opening they expected, and Red Dead 2 wasn’t the game they were hoping for …

First game that came to mind when I read the title, was Watch Dogs 2, because you’re expecting an open world sandbox game in sunny colorful San Francisco, and instead that opening has you crawling and sneaking around an incredibly boring office building …

PrimeVinister259d ago

Watch Dogs 2 is a decent game but not really a classic. The opening is awful though. You got that right.

I loved the RDR 2 opening hours the first time but going back to restart it is where the rub lies for me.

Yi-Long259d ago

Yeah, I agree it’s not a classic, but it was the first game I thought of where I really thought; Why would you make that design choice!? If you’re gonna do a thing like that in order to teach the player some basic sneaking controls, at least make the location a bit more interesting, like an abandoned theme park or gorgeous temple or whatever, but now the gameplay was restrictive and boring, but also the location itself.

PrimeVinister259d ago

@Yi-Long Definitely true re the worst possible choices being made for the opener of Watch Dogs 2. I did enjoy WD2 overall but that intro is baffling :-D

Red Dead 2 opening was trash

A Fan-Made Mod Recreates Original Dues Ex In Unreal Engine 5; VR Mode Planned

A talented modder is creating an HD iteration of the classic Dues Ex (2000) experience in Unreal Engine 5. A new video reveals more details.

cammers1995397d ago

Cease and Desist DMCA imminent. All these fan projects get killed because they can't wait to show it off before it's complete.

Finish the mod/game then show it off and release it. If you announce it early then it can get taken down.
