GameDynamo - "These are the beastly games that take hours, days, even months to complete! I'll leave out open-ended games that by nature have no ending, like MMORPGs, social games, and Minecraft."

some of that list is pretty bad, but other parts I agree 100%. But my list would turn into an old school pc game list with some dragon quest.

Conzul4380d ago

@kevnb Yeah I've never heard of several titles on that list, but I know what he means by the Civ series. I was addicted to those, but after several hours of Civ3 I would feel physically out of breath and exhausted :P

Persona 3 - Yes.
Civ - Yes.

Would've liked to have played Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

Demon's Souls is a very complex game not on the list... with the pure white and pure black tenancies, it makes playing and finding/using the appropriate items complex. Plus the rarity of some items and how they are made, who you kill and keep alive, etc. Demon's Souls is pretty damn complex.

Some racing games are pretty complex too... especially Gran Turismo 5. There are so many upgrades and settings, and not properly setting up the car can mean a win or a loss.

i dunno, demons souls is awesome and has good combat. But I dont think its one of the most complex games of all time, part of its charm is its simple mechanics. However it does have a lot of depth and items to find.

When I think of complex I think of games like total war, eve online, civ and the original deus ex.

This list is mostly crap.

Persona and Civ I'll give you. but what about Demons/Dark Souls?

Skyrim is shallow, forge daggers until you level up, then forge potions until you level up, that is more boring then anything.

Also, I like Zelda, but how is it complex? It is fun, but not complicated at ALL.

And how the HELL did Batman get on that list? Fun combat, yes. But far from deep... Devil May Cry 3 had deep combat, Batman is a shallow beat 'em up, nothing more.

Hey @LordMe, @guitarded77, and @Lord_Sloth, I haven't played Demon's/Dark Souls, but will have that on my to-play list. I've heard of it, seen it, but haven't had the chance to play it. Now, I will make it a must-play immediately

Lord_Sloth4381d ago (Edited 4381d ago )

I see no mention of Demon's/Dark Souls, Armored Core, or Monster Hunter on this list and you should remove about half of the titles you included.

Ew VO actors and their cringe core. Fiverr voice actors could out perform this chump.

I'm Replaying Skyrim (again), and So Should You

Replaying Skyrim after 13 years is a reminder of the progress made in western RPGs over the last decade, but also what's been lost.

anast17d ago

I tried, but it's a poorly made game that insults its customers.

lucian22917d ago

nah, only mods make it decent, and even then it's bad, and this is after i modded for at least 3 years

Nittdarko17d ago

Funnily enough, I'm about to play it for the first time in VR with 1000 mods to make the game playable, as is the Bethesda way

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave17d ago (Edited 17d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
