Majin-vegeta4378d ago

Nice guess ill pick up the GOTY edition still been busy with BF3 to get any other game

Razmossis4378d ago

Pretty sure most of the GOTY awards went to Skyrim last year

MAJ0R4378d ago

I don't think a game has to get the majority of GOTY's in order to get a GOTY edition.

xPhearR3dx4378d ago

Any game these days can get a GOTY Edition. Pretty much means nothing.

Army_of_Darkness4378d ago (Edited 4378d ago )

ReallY?? I always got the impression that a GOTY edition means that the game sold very well, therefore a re-release with all the DLC and stuff...
why re-release something that didnt sell well in the first place right?! but hey, what do I know;)

xPhearR3dx4378d ago

@Army of Darkness

Yeah, because Two Worlds 2 sold sooooo many copies and won tons of GOTY awards right?

http://cache.gawkerassets.c...

TopDudeMan4378d ago

no one person gets to decide that.

Ducky4378d ago

Might want to give the guys at RockSteady a heads up on that too.

Awesome_Gamer4378d ago

Fact: Uncharted is the best game series this gen

Peppino74378d ago

I remember hearing Sony exclusives don't sell well. I guess that excludes some franchises. Good job guys.

basilezz30304377d ago (Edited 4377d ago )

@Razmossis
no it's not
uncharted 3 have total 172 Award
(38 GOTY/60+ GFX awards included plus the rest of it awards)

InactiveUser4377d ago (Edited 4377d ago )

2011 was very split. Skyrim may have gotten the most, but Portal 2, Uncharted 3, Batman: Arkham City, and Zelda: Skyward Sword were named GotY also.

Either way, this isn't like Borderlands GotY when they only had 1-2 out of around 200+ publications name them GotY.

Hopefully this gives naughty dog a reason to keep the franchise a live even after having three installments. This is by far my favorite franchise this Gen.

Nimblest-Assassin4378d ago

Even though Im a huge fan of Uncharted, they should give it a break... not a Jak and Daxter break, but so they can collect new ideas to make a better game, after all they are working on the Last of Us

PRHB HYBRiiD4378d ago

i sold my uncharted copy but if this comes with all the dlc i might get it again just to play online :)

DFresh4377d ago

You sold your Uncharted copy?
What's wrong with you?
That's crazy talk.
:D

Nimblest-Assassin4378d ago (Edited 4378d ago )

Now thats how you do a GOTY cover....

cough*warner bros* cough

Only these games deserve GOTY editions

-portal 2
-Uncharted 3
-Batman Arkham city
-Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Nimblest-Assassin4378d ago

Well, those games won a majority of the goty awards last year(my history with skyrim is why I did not include it but yes) it is my opinion. I understand the disagrees with my previous comment. Everyone had their own personal goty, those were just the 4 games I enjoyed the most last year

ritsuka6664378d ago (Edited 4378d ago )

To be honest, I don't think Sony even comes close to MS when putting marketing muscle numbers behind their titles, compared to the carpet-bombing campaign that Halo 3 numbers have, this is disapointg numbers...

smashcrashbash4378d ago

Yes because as we know ALL Microsoft games sell well. How many copies did they sell of Alan Wake again? Or Splinter Cell Conviction? Or Banjo Kazooie Nits and Bolts? Or Crackdown 2? Or Forza 4? Remember how they broke sales records and broke the bank? No? Of course you don't because if people like you mentioned all the games that didn't sell well on the 360 it would mess up the crap belief that only Microsoft and Nintendo titles sell well and all Sony titles sell like crap.As long as you only cling to all the titles that sell well your safe in your own little world.

Outside_ofthe_Box4377d ago

I was waiting for a fool to say this. So you are saying that selling 17 million is disappointing? Interesting...

kanetheking4378d ago

xPhearR3dx i remember two world selling over 1.5mil copy's so it did do well XD

Berserk4378d ago

People still play Bf3? hahaha The "Elite" like ME play COD!

raytraceme4378d ago

wow thats over 5 million per game in the trilogy nice!!!

BlmThug4378d ago

Well, actually 4.25 million sales between the four UC games. UC1, UC2, UC3 and UC GA

raytraceme4378d ago (Edited 4378d ago )

key word: TRILOGY

5+5+5= 15 million

total sales =17.32 million

golden abyss sales < 2 million

so yea over 5 million per game in the trilogy ;)

Technicalities are fun.

thats_just_prime4378d ago

Your wrong there are 5 games not 3.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
Uncharted: Golden Abyss
Uncharted: Drake's Trail

jimbobwahey4378d ago

What's Uncharted: Drake's Trail? Never heard of that before.

fucadastates4378d ago

Uncharted: Drake's Trail is not countet in this, just like god of war betrayal is not countet. if it is. prove it please :D

SilentNegotiator4378d ago

I'm pretty sure that was a promotional flash game that no one "bought"

sikbeta4378d ago

@fucadastates

Betrayal is Phone game duh, of course it doesn't count, doesn't have physical copies and that, so Drake's Trial is a phone game as well or what?

O-T

Great for ND, they're one of the best devs in the industry, keep going!

yewles14378d ago

Hell, if you're gonna' bring a browser flash game into this, then you might as well bring the PS Home mini games too...

Mercenary Madness
Uncharted 3 Fortune Hunter
etc.

See how silly that is now?

neogeo4378d ago

I just picked up Uncharted Drakes SUPER Adventure!
GOTY!

Oh and Drakes Trail was good:)

I wish there was just a "like" button haha. Good to hear it's selling like it should.

Nac4378d ago

I'm still not calling it a "game," but wow, that is a really nice cover.

Nac4378d ago

Disagree all you want, Chapter 18 is a counter to objectivity. An interactive cinematic experience indeed...

Ducky4378d ago

Then tell ND to make an Interactive-Cinematic-Experien ce-Of-The-Year edition.
=p

Nac4378d ago

I'm sorry, I just don't view Uncharted 3 as a "game."

The presentation and design philosophy counters traditional concepts. Naughty Dog set out to make an interactive cinematic experience and I feel that UC3 is nothing less than that.

Hicken4377d ago

What the hell do you mean by "traditional concepts?"

Winning? Losing? Objectives to meet? Moving to a new area? Increasing/varying difficulty? Scoring points? Controller inputs? Requiring player action to progress? Uncharted has everything but point-scoring.

Tell me: what is "traditional?"

All I hear out of your comments is a poorly constructed attempt at criticizing a great series. To be frank, I should just label each of your posts as "trolling," as there's honestly no legitimate reasoning behind what you're saying, and you couldn't even make yourself understood with five bubbles at your disposal.

Nac4377d ago (Edited 4377d ago )

Criticizing? Sweet Jesus no. I love Uncharted and in particular, Uncharted 3. One of the reasons was the "whole cinematic thing". I just take ND at their word on what they want to change about the medium as well as the trepidation to steer away from the term "game" and all the connotations that come with it.

When first discussed in an early Entertainment Weekly article, Amy Hennig declared that Uncharted 3 aspires to be an “interactive cinematic experience” in it's own right. Something I think it did.

http://popwatch.ew.com/2010...

Hell, with the announcement of The Last of Us, Christophe Balestra was quoted as saying, "We're trying to move the medium of video games into an area elevated in the same manner of respect of film. We want to redefine what our medium is even called. 'Video game' is not an accurate name anymore. It is not necessarily a game with rules and a winner and a loser. It's an experience."

http://www.usatoday.com/tec...

Therein lies what I have been trying to convey. Uncharted 3 is less objective then its predecessors. Maybe not in full, but certainly within the constraint of Chapter 18, TheRub' al Khali. There is no score keeping in the desert, no prompt to tell you what the objective is, ammo count on screen, map, inventory list, hell there is no objective at all. Just a man wondering the wastes as much as he is wondering himself. That chapter alone make UC3 my favorite UC as well as my favorite interactive experience. Sure, someone might counter by indicating that at a fundmental level, it is just someone walking. But in truth, it's so much more than that. The action itself is not key, it's the concept and drive. Chapter 18 is powerful because so many roles are filled within it, YOU are with Drake, witnessing Drake, and pushing Drake forward. YOU work as his motivation. During the second night, having YOU be the only thing keeping him walking by pushing forward was brilliant. YOU do not "beat" Chapter 18, you finish it. There is something really new, innovative, and special to that, to have all of these things plus contextual sensitivity and cinematic dynamic camera work.

That is why I don't call it a game, I personally am not "playing," I am experiencing something. Maybe you do not find Chapter 18 enjoyable, maybe it is not "fun". I would counter by saving not everything needs to be "fun" to be a fantastic experience. Afterall, there was nothing fun about looking for Jason in the mall or watching a man almost lose everything in the desert. Despite that, it was still extraordinary. Maybe it makes me "pretentious," I don't care. My "pretension" shows nothing but passion for an experience that blew away all expectations and a group of developers who want to defy all that have come before by creating experiences that are not necessarily traditional. I love it, I get defensive when I hear people criticize UC3 or anything that seems to steer towards this kind of approach and experience. In this case, I made a comment that concerns a label, something I did not agree with bestowing but that 31(at count) did. What I feel is still the same, I also feel that, regardless of what it is called(as much as I may disagree) it does not change the quality that is found within the finished experience. All in all, when it comes down to it I think we all love Uncharted, just in different ways and for different reasons.

Also, I do not need 5 bubbles at my disposal to convey what I need to get across. Just one.

kneon4378d ago

You're right, it's just far to be good to be referred to as merely a game, but I can't come up with a better term.

h311rais3r4378d ago

I never found uc3 all that "fun". It was entertaining but I beat it for the story "which was predictable and just to beat it. I loved 2 but 3 took it too far with the whole cinematic thing.

The Inconsistent Harmony: 5 Examples of Ludonarrative Dissonance in Video Games

VGChartz's Issa Maki: "I finally have a proper designation akin to what I've always referred to internally as 'the line that must be crossed' or 'The Line', for short – ludonarrative dissonance – the separation from a video game's story in relation to its gameplay. Why isn't PETA all up in Mario's grill for jumping on turtles and killing fish, or charging Samus Aran with the extinction of the Metroid species? Ever notice how fire has that habit of making bosses in Resident Evil stronger? Read on my friend, for I endeavor to imbue you with the ability to engage in basic queries concerning the concept."

UNCHARTED2FANATIC898d ago (Edited 898d ago )

I cant even say what the point was its easily the worst story in the series. The online was a whole lot of fun though but overall doesn't come even close to 2

porkChop898d ago (Edited 898d ago )

It was a step back for sure. Personally, I thought even the MP was way better in U2. Solid game, glad I played it. I just think they didn't push as hard as they did with U2.

UNCHARTED2FANATIC893d ago

Yes both the online and story was better in 2 no doubt

Flewid638898d ago

The "young Drake" portion was pretty top notch, story-wise. But yeah, everything outside of that I felt was inferior.

DanielEndurance898d ago

Villains were all over the place in this… one second they wanted Drake dead, the next they needed him, then they want him dead again, then they coulda killed him, but poisoned his friend instead, then coulda shot him again, but had brunch with him, then needed him alive, then coulda mowed him down, but decided to kill him by fire and let him escape… Uncharted 2 was way better. 😅😅

slowgamer898d ago

=D Sounds crazy. I don't remember any of that. Played it on ps3 and I remember thinking that why was this game so bashed compared to second one. I liked it.

Chocoburger897d ago (Edited 897d ago )

Another thing that annoyed me about UC3 events was the agent Talbot teleporting around Turkey. It just felt off to me, and made no sense.

Also, for about one third of the game, you go on a wild goose chase to rescue Sully, who wasn't even there to be rescued, and you end up back where you started again. There was simply no pay off for all the events you go through, so it fell flat in that regard as if they couldn't figure out how to make the game longer, so they decided to side-track you to do something with no pay off, hoping you wouldn't notice due to all the incredible action set pieces they made.

Overall though, even with its flaws, I still enjoy the game.

TheEnigma313898d ago

This was actually my least favorite in the series. Didn't have that same impact that part 2 set.

Flewid638898d ago

Uncharted 2 is the pinnacle of the series (to me).

Granted, 4 had the best story in my opinion, but 2 was the overall best game.
