Japanese Media Keeps Beating Up on Sony

Once upon a time, Sony ruled Japan. Those days are over. Don't believe me? Just look at how the Japanese media keeps turning the Tokyo-based electronics maker into a punching bag.

Sony isn't the poster child for success anymore. Their products are over-priced and under-perform the competition. This is just how it is.

Part of it really is luck, sometimes a product will just get popular and people will buy it because other people are buying it. Kind of like fads, people move from one thing to the other, sometimes there isn't a logical thought process that goes into some people's decision to buy a product. A big part has to do with advertising though, which Sony could improve on.

Yeah, the low RAM in the PS3 means it takes ages to send a message in-game. The amount of times I have been killed by an invader in Dark Souls or Demon's Souls because messaging takes too long.

hey neko, long time no speak. anyways, every country, city, town has them, they are called, arseholes, trolls, people who are fastidious and will bash w/e they can for the sake of it. i think Sony is doing fairly well in Japan, and wont be going anywhere, even if they crash here in the U.S. and some of these other big name companies people like to compare Sony to, arent even Japanese and we all know the Japanese are nationalistic. Samsung (Korean), Zen (Singapore) to name a few. And other competing Japanese companies, arent as good as Sony in the west and thats why you dont see their products.

Every company gets their fair share of sh*t slinging. This is what happens when you are a multi billion dollar company.

back in the day, Sony was one of the only tech that was high end but now there are other companies that are making high end products that sometimes even surpass the Sony products.

BTW Sony need to open thier TVs for all formats, avi`s xvids mkvs and others - they need to give ppl what others gave long time ago - just this... if not they will fail

Actually, Sony are doing good in their home turf. Its the North american that they are losing badly, their other strong turf which is Europe is in a debt crisis so premium products such as Sony are a no-go.

It's to be expected, you'd have to be blind not to notice the company isn't doing so hot right now. Of course the Japanese media is going to lay into them, they're part of the Japanese economy.

Sony should reduce the price of their PS3, not because it's not worth the price but to expand their install base. If someone doesn't buy their console then not only do they lose that sale but they lose all the sales afterward. They have Blu-Ray, the PSN store, DLC, plus their software on sale right now. I believe they should have done this right from launch because in the long term they would have had much more going for them. For starters a larger install base brings more companies in for business. Just look at all the PS3's exclusives. That is where they could have made the most money....and you need customers that bought a PS3.

You can't shut the world off and then offer tons of things for sale to only the customers that bought your console. You need to make the PS3 accessible to everyone and make up your sales through your software and services.
