Many of the norms we take for granted in video games are completely ridiculous indeed. Have a look at some of the most oddball ones.

Sucker for Love: Date to Die For was short, a little broken, but ultimately engaging and relatable. Just like my love life.

Number 10 isn't ridiculous and a basic understanding of the human mind..
ten minutes of running around killing shit?..no problem..
five hours?...you physically get exhausted and emotionally..
of course this is literally represented with "harder" bosses..just because it would be hard to actually imprint that onto the player..
all the player has to do is turn off the video game if they get tired..
imagine a game where you CAN'T turn off without losing som...

'In video games, cars are easier to explode than a Parkinsons patient holding a bottle of nitroglycerin'

Whenever I misplaced my cellphone in the house, I would ask my sister to give a missed call. Then it would made a sound and flashes so I can find it easier...
Wait...a ridiculous gaming norm happened in real life! An actual glowing item when you search for it!
As for cars in games, they really are ridiculously sensitive things. I've always cringed watching how easily parked cars explode in BF3's first gameplay trailer and even more so once released. I do give cars in Fallout 3 a pass though since they are essentially powered by nukes. Their tiny mushroom clouds death are so cute to watch and feel appropriate in the game's overall post-apocalyptic theme.
