Street Fighter X Tekken dev 'disappointed' in DLC being hacked

Street Fighter X Tekken producer Tomoaki Ayano is disappointed that hackers are already playing with the dozen fighters planned as downloadable content for his game. Speaking with GameSpot, the developer expressed dismay at the hackers' actions but acknowledgement of their skill.

Sad that the last good game I remember them making was Mega Man Mavorick Hunter X for the PSP. I loved it sooooooooo much since it was just a lot of fun to play and added some much stuff as well as changed others. I was happy that I bought that game.

Oh ya, Another good game they made was RE4 for Wii, that was a lot of fun. Sad that they are pissing fans off everyday now since they used to be one of the best.

I like EA this generation. Yea the online pass sucks and they had some misses but for the most part, they did pretty good.

As for Crapcom, they deserve the WORST company of the year. They are horrible. How do you charge for characters that are locked on the disk and on top of that, some of the characters (see guy, Blanka) were FREE in previous iterations?! (Super Street Fighter 4). Yeah i'm getting RE6 used. I bought Mass Effect 3 used also. I could have got them new no problem. But my conscience couldn't let them screw me over.

Also, I played SfxTekken for the first time yesterday, and it feels like a cheaply made, terribly unbalanced mess. Plus the tekken characters play nothing like they do in tekken. It's just another unbalanced Street Fighter game (just like Street Fighter 4). SSF2 + SF3 Third strike + Sf Alpha 3 are the only balanced SF's (But that's just my opinion).

As for Crapcom, and other crappy DLC thieving companies like Activi$ion, EA, etc: I'm only buying used. Even if it costs me $50 to buy the game used + a $10 online pass ; I'd rather buy used, knowing that I'm screwing cRapcom out of $50.

Until they stop screwing us over, I'm buying only used. Companies who are legit (like Rockstar, Naughty Dog, Namco, most/all Sony studios (I own a PS3), etc) get my full support and I'll always buy their games new.

It's hard to muster any sympathy for capcom at this point. I've bought all your fighting games b/c i'm a big fan of the genre, as many others in the fighting game community. We were the niche market that kept the scene alive when it was practically on life support and you still milk us to death with re-releases and dlc.

Well know this. The FGC is only so big, and the casuals have stopped buying your games, as you can see from the sales figure of UMvsC3 and SFxT. a demo is just that, a demonstration of the game. Typically they are just a portion of the game unless you happen to D/L a little game that has a full game unlock.

Hacking a full game demo into the full thing is NOT the same as hacking a game with the content locked on it.

You paid for the full game, you get the full game. But not according to capcom.

And paying for tv service is not the same as paying for additional channels.

The definition of "full game" is what is up in the air here.

My point is when you buy a full game, you are paying for the content that is advertised and the developer/publisher is allowing you to access. They are the gatekeepers, period. This not controversial and is the way it has always been.

There is no contract between the content provider and the consumer that gives access to what the provider doesn't want to to have. You are buying the game (not the disc) and the game is dictated by the developer (not the consumer).

This situation is no different from having a cable box and cracking it to give you access to the channels you didn't pay for. The same goes for cracking the unlock key of a demo to access the full game. Or buying a system because of an exploit that allows you to play games you illegally downloaded for free.

It all comes back to entitlement. Just because additional content is on the disc doesn't mean the gamer is entitled to it. You paid for the game that you got. If you want more, you are humbly asked to pay for it, regardless of if it is on the disk or not. You may want more, you may not; but that doesn't mean you should take by force what you feel you should have.

Wrong example, a cable box does not have the tv shows stored inside it. The shows are still transmitted from the provider to the consumer. It is very different from a disc that holds all the contents.
