The PS Vita – An Under Appreciated Handheld Console?

The PS Vita brought many new innovative features and a handheld that looked like every geek and gamer would have dreamed of – home console quality graphics, front touchscreen and rear-touch panels, front and rear cameras for augmented reality and games, the sought after dual analogue sticks, a sharp and vibrant larger screen all packed with a new ‘Bubble’ OS that’s user-friendly. Having had the console since launch, its a console that has still kept me company and much valued that I never considered selling at all compared to other early adopters I know and hear about.

by the general media maybe, but by those that own it, no. i haven't played my Vita for nearly two weeks now but i still appreciate the tech inside and do not in any way regret the purchase. i haven't watched a Blu-ray movie for months now but that doesn't mean that my Blu-ray player isn't appreciated, it just means that there haven't been any films i've wanted to watch.

gtxgamer24389d ago

This needs to be noticed by more gamers

LOGICWINS4389d ago (Edited 4389d ago )

When the price comes down in a few months(it WILL)more gamers will notice. It's funny how every prediction about the Vita I made has come true so far. I'll say it again, selling a $250 PS3 and a $250 Vita simultaneously was a ridiculous idea.

$250 + the price of a memory card and a game comes out to a $300+ price tag. How many PS3 owners(the target market for Vita) do u think have that kind of cash laying around just to play inferior versions of games that they already have?

@radracing- Theres a difference between bashing and educated criticism. I predicted that the Vita would have a hard time penetrating the market a $250 price point just after Kaz announced the price. And guess what, depite the usual disagrees from Sony loyalists who close their ears and cover their eyes when confronted with reality, I was right.

Vita just had its worst sales week ever.

Two_Sheds_Jackson4389d ago

The system, I didnt think I could say this, is have a much rougher time than the 3ds had, because the one thing the 3ds had for it was it always had even at launch 3rd party exclusive content, which allowed it to push systems and never be in superiorly dangerous sales territory

brettyd4389d ago

I dont understand what all the fuss is about, every new console gets bashed after launch. Can't remember one that wasn't. As soon as more games come out (tons in the next 2 months) the talk should end.

cynosure4389d ago

Its not really getting bashed though.
It got great reviews by the gaming and mainstream media.
The thing is its selling very poorly and this is something that media isn't going to ignore.
Because the fanboys cant handle any criticism against their machine or corporation of choice this translates to them as hating or bias etc etc
They dont see things rationally

LOGICWINS4389d ago

Agreed. On N4G, criticizing Vita is the equivalent of wanting Vita to fail. I don't understand where people get this crazy mentality that they need to verbally defend a bunch of computer chips.

belac094389d ago

once there are more games, more people will buy it, i only have 1 actual vita game, and there are no more i want until the 17th. but it is an amazing peice of equipment.

Original Final Fantasy 7 - Is it Worth Playing in 2024?

Final Fantasy 7 has come back under the spotlight thanks to the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but is it worth replaying the original?

ravens5210d ago

Got to Zacks part in 7 Rebirth. Said f it. Finishing my game in 7 og. Just got to part 2 yesterday. I also got Crisis Core... So it'll be a while before I'm back to Rebirth. I just keep thinking about it too smh, want to get back to playing it. Not till I know Zacks story though. I beat 7 og sooooooo long ago, it's crazy going through it again and remembering things.

MrNinosan9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

Got to Zacks part in Rebirth?
You mean you started the game and turned it off?
The game starts with Zack...

ravens529d ago

... Really 🤓 lol. His second part, I've played for 80hrs lmao. <---- PS5 Run time, probably not all game time. You guys know how it goes.

VIK21219d ago (Edited 9d ago )

Did you not ever play the OG FF7? After you recruit Vincent, later in the game, disc 3, return to that basement and look at the pod, there's a whole Zack story that'll trigger as a memory.... it's well hidden in the game and a lot of things regarding Zack are cleared up. FF7 Crisis Core is basically an extend feature of that hidden flashback... It took me years to discover it back then lol

@ravens52
80 hours in Rebirth by doing everything, and you should've reached Zacks story about 5 times 🤣

ravens529d ago

Ye I kno that's y I said not all gameplay time. But also I am very anal when it comes to exploring.

ravens529d ago

Not to mention fighting Titan at his full strength. Hours spent trying still haven't succeeded. Found all 3 ruins but I'ma masochist when it comes to games.

Very much so. Graphically it's dated but the story and the gameplay haven't aged a day. It's still one of my all time favourite RPGs and for me is better than Remake in some ways.

Barlos10d ago (Edited 10d ago )

It always takes me back to Christmas 1997, I got it as a gift and I was blown away when I played it. I couldn't believe games could look that good. The combination of pre rendered backgrounds and FMV really made it stand out. It definitely still has a certain charm that modern games can't replicate.

I can't imagine people will still be talking about Remake and Rebirth in 27 years.

Tapani9d ago

Fully agreed. To me the atmosphere, pacing, gameplay and music are all better than in the remake.

Rebel_Scum10d ago

Yes, play this, skip remake, start rebirth for new players.

I_am_Batman10d ago

Skip Remake? That's terrible advice.

leahcim9d ago

Remake is so amazing, pure FFVII Love, play it on PS5 please! aww the graphics the battles, the music... a dream come true.

Rebel_Scum9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

I disagree Batman
