Mind-Blowing MGS3 Theory (Spoilers)

The Indoctrination Theory has been a major point of debate over the past several weeks, with players arguing both for and against the Mass Effect 3 conspiracy. I’ve got a theory, too. Metal Gear Solid 3 isn’t exactly what it seems.

Oh, and spoilers abound, obviously.

Well it fits. I like it, and knowing hideo kojima it could rightly be possible. would draw the series in a nice even circle and explain why 3 was a prequel when the other games were totally in order, all of the fallowing solid snake.

Plus would leave room for some other awesome simulations later, I want to see a game of The Boss.

The whole series could even be meta meta meta and be a clone of snake/big boss reliving his whole life in order to bring him back. Recorded by nano machines or something, it's all stuff that can be written in and kojima is zany enough to do it.

crxss4392d ago

great read! definitely possible knowing Kojima. Theory explains why Solid Snake salutes The Boss's gravestone in the beginning of MGS4 having not known her. MGS3 is hands down the best in the series.

MrMister4389d ago

Dude you 1000% sure it was THE Boss's grave and not Big Boss's?

ajay_solidsnake4393d ago (Edited 4393d ago )

Like Desmond, Solid is reliving BigBoss's memories.
Right ??? :p

MrMister4393d ago

The S3 simulations are the most interesting things about MGS story. Also, look at how they took excellent soldiers like Grey Fox, Olga (mgs2), and Raiden and turned them into cyborgs. Could that be another plan of the patriots, which would extend the story? Also the VR missions theory ould very well explain why MGS 3 had the name Solid in it's title, even though it's apparently about Big Boss. Also peace Walker got really deep into the subject of AI. Is it possible that Kojima is setting up Dr. Strangelove to be the architect of the future S3 simulations?

I love MGS....

The "Solid" doesn't come from Solid Snake, they added it when they went 3D with MGS1 and got "solid" objects in the game or something like that. Google it for a better explanation.

Clarence4393d ago

No. Solid was add when MG2 Solid Snake was released in Japan in 1990. MG series was originally created for the MSX2 computer in Japan. It was then ported to the Nintendo.

Naked Snake or Big Boss is the original Snake. Then there's Solid and Liquid.

VonBraunschweigg4393d ago (Edited 4393d ago )

You're both kind of right. The 1st game was called "Metal Gear", the 2nd "Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake", with Solid Snake as a subtitle to the game, not the series. Even then that was "Tactical Espionage Action", a qualitystamp MGS:Rising won't receive. It's not "Metal Gear Solid: Snake" or something. With the PS1 game the series was renamed to it's current name MGS, on MSX it was MG.

MSX was pretty big in Europe to but the original cartridges were often hard to get. I played a copy of MG on 3.5 floppydisk, and the game would randomly crash when you entered the elevator. Perhaps only fair:) Even back in '87 Kojima had you guessing. The whole game you take orders from Big Boss, but in the end he commands you to "switch off your MSX". Great stuff.

Edit: weren't there 3 clones, 3 enfant terribles with Solidus Snake being the 3rd? I hated Raiden so much I didn't pay enough attention I'm afraid.

Wintersun6164393d ago

Seems like I didn't remember it exactly correctly, but it wasn't too far from the truth.

"Kojima retitled the game Metal Gear Solid, choosing this over the working title Metal Gear 3. This was due to the fact that he believed that the first two MSX2 games in the series were not very well known.[40] He used the word 'Solid' which was chosen due to the game being the third installment in the series, and because it uses 3D computer graphics.[41] Sequels to this game also use the Metal Gear Solid title, and follow a new numeral progression."

@VonBraunschweigg,

That's exactly what I was trying to say, you just managed to explain it better. Bubs for helpful. :)

clank5434393d ago

In MGS5, you'll just be controlling Solid Snake while he's playing MGS1.

Soldierone4393d ago

It's interesting and could be an easy way for Kojima to tie things together, but overall I think its looking a little too far into it.

I mean the time parodox things etc happen simply because MGS2 already happened. If Kojima allowed you to kill Ocelot, or to let Snake die completely, then the story wouldn't flow correctly with MGS2. its a simple mechanic. I believe the game also explains what the meaning is to virtuous mission too.

Plus I kinda think he didn't really have an idea for MGS4 just yet and wanted to open up more of the book, so he went into the past. Tons of creative writers do this all the time, its common formula and takes rather a lot of skill to make it work almost flawlessly like Kojima did.

VonBraunschweigg4393d ago

Ah, the Ocelot paradox:) I assume most players already unlocked that particular Trophy, if not than move along...great humor, I wonder if it was Kojima or Bluepoint Games that came up with

"Problem solved, series over"

I just couldn't stop laughing when that text popped up. One reason I never check on available Tropies before finishing a game.

PlayStation 3 Games That Desperately Need a PS5 Remaster

The PlayStation 3 may not have been the strongest generation for Sony, but there were still some diamonds in the rough that deserve a revisit as PS5 remasters.

Even if they could just remaster and put on PSVR2, some would still look great as VR titles and could do a whole lot to bolster the headset w these exclusives! I'd imagine the investment of reworking these titles into VR would be way less than building new games from the ground up, and they could be amazing experiences, and VR often makes flat games feel fresh again. The Resistance and Killzone games are particularly what I want to see!!

Rude-ro38d ago

I played killzone 3 in 3d and it really changed the game per being immersive.
In vr, that would be even more awesome.

darthv7238d ago

Funny you mention that... my son wanted to play some PS3 games in 3d on my PS tv and he was blown away by how good KZ3 was. It really was a great addition to the game. Im surprised there have not been more 3d games from that era being ported to the PSVR/VR2.

_SilverHawk_38d ago

resistance 1-3, killzone 1-3, uncharted 1-3, uncharted golden abyss, folklore, socom 4 , motorstorm, twisted metal, MAG, heavenly sword

Killzone trilogy in VR would be amazing bonus points if they offer shadow fall.

There was a psvr1 Killzone project that supermassive was working on at one stage which wasn't up to scratch and Sony brand it back in house I was hoping we would see that on psvr2 eventually.

Personally I'd love to see some more love or acknowledgement of psvr2 from Sony in general it was a expensive headset and Sony barely acknowledge it's existence

seanpitt2338d ago

The amount of work needed to remaster these games wouldn't be beneficial on a financial and business sense.. MGS4 would probably be the best bet as it would need the least amount of work!

Iceball200038d ago

YEAAASSSSS! I miss this franchise and wanna play it so bad again.

Father__Merrin38d ago

The time is perfect for a resistance fall of man game campaign coop multiplayer

InUrFoxHole38d ago

The resistance series is str8 trash to me. Socom 3 I would welcome. Or killzone MP.

Marcus Fenix38d ago

A Resistance reboot will be awesome

Michiel198938d ago

That's what Bungie should make, Ill keep saying it until it happens

1Victor38d ago (Edited 38d ago )

Resistance was ok but Warhawk and Starhawk was better and kept me coming back for almost a decade of fun and petty revenge on the loud mouth unskilled players 🤣
Edit I loved capture the flag dropping the pot on the flag carrier was extremely satisfying as well as transforming your plane in bot form and stumping them to death 😱

Michiel198938d ago

Resistance was the best co-op fps I ever played after L4D2
