Markus "Notch" Persson has unveiled 0x10c; space game still in early development; monthly fee "likely".
Minecraft creator and Mojang co-founder Markus "Notch" Persson has announced he's working on a new game, registering the domain name "0x10c".
According to the game's site, which was set live today, Persson's new game will be space-oriented. Like Minecraft, Persson expects to release the game early to "let players shape the game as it grows".
Unigamesity writes: "Today we continue our series of amazing games to be released in 2013 that you never heard about with a very popular genre nowadays: shooters and in this case, FPS titles. There are quite a few big name titles coming in 2013 that we have already talked about, but there are also a lot of promising and rather no-name games coming this year that you might have never heard about"
I think at this point, it will have to be pretty promising with all the FPS games that have flooded the market.
With the exception of 'You Sir, Are being hunted" (which doesn't look particularly interesting IMO) and "0x10c" the other three games look like pretty standard fair shooters. Not terribly impressed by them.
"Markus “Notch” Persson, the mind behind Minecraft, has revealed that his new project, 0x10c, will not be shown this weekend at Minecon in Paris, France."
StickSkills said, "Since our staff is responsible for covering pretty much everything related to the video game industry on a daily basis, it can be tough to post all the stories we think our readers would like to see. Videos go unwatched, new release dates are missed and silly quotes just float away without ever being heard. So, instead of ignoring the news that slipped through the cracks each week, we decided to put it all in one convenient place! This week, we take a look at the return of ToeJam and Earl, check out some new footage from the upcoming Lost Planet 3 and get introduced to a few new characters in Far Cry 3."
Ugh at monthly fees.... Well, I guess I'll withhold my judgement for now. It is Notch we're talking about. He's a good dude, but I just don't like this idea. :\
Notch goes from saying he wants everyone to download his game (Minecraft) for free....
then descides his next game will have a monthly fee.
I guess the former approach didn't yield the profits he'd like.
That can't be true, use dedicated servers, like minecraft...why does it have to be a single persistent world, is it an MMO? Because we all know monthly fee based MMOs don't work aside from a select few...bad idea.
I am really excited about this, but I will never ever ever pay a monthly fee for a game no matter how good it may be.
Come on Notch don't do this to us...
XBox live is no different..you pay for servers and services and those things don't run themselves..
