What went wrong with Operation Raccoon City

Rely on Horror writes: Like I stated in my review of the game, I did enjoy my time with the campaign and continue to find myself sucked into its multiplayer suite. But I’m no fool. I’m not oblivious to all the things that went wrong with the game. So I’m going to talk about the most annoying issues I came across, issues that at times made me want to stop playing completely and head back to Resident Evil 2 and 3.

I’m also more than aware that this game was designed as a co-op/ multiplayer experience, with that in mind throughout the entirety of its development time from Slant Six. So, me judging it by my time playing the campaign solo may seem somewhat unfair. To those that have told me that after reading my review, I’ll say this: To me, despite what the developer’s intentions are, Resident Evil is always a single-player experience first and foremost. So, having said that, on to the list of ORC’s most frustratingly apparent flaws!

Well, it's a game no-one wanted.

"DA ACTION IS WAT DEY WANT!" xD

ShaunCameron4405d ago

It sold some 200 000+ each on the 360 and PS3 opening week. So much for nobody wanting it.

Wrong?
Its not Resident Evil,its SocomEvil.

It never took me 4 blasts with a shotgun at point blank range to kill someone in SOCOM. I could vault obstacles in SOCOM because the ability to jump, not bunny hot, but jump > cover mode.

Trying to bunny hop in SOCOM was instant death. But I could hop a low wall or jump up onto the front hood or trunk of a car. SOCOM didn't have monster closets where soldiers are apparently kept with no light, food, or toilet until some intruders enter the building and then they pop out. No wonder they are angry. SOCOM graphics > REORC. I could do this all day.

As much as I respect the guy's opinion and 7/10 review...

I can't say that I agree with giving it a 7/10, then writing a whole article about why it was bad. Capcom doesn't deserve pity points for a bad game - they're big boys and girls.

Spin-offs of the series are never as good as the main entries. I'm not even surprise. I might pick it up later just because it's Resident Evil game.

Behind AC: New Horizons, this is my 2nd most wanted game this year.
Until Capcom remade RE2, RE3: Nemesis on PS1 was my favourite RE game.

Tross1510d ago (Edited 1510d ago )

I do think it's easily one of the most underrated RE games. I'm looking forward to fending off REmake Nemesis, especially since I heard his appearances throughout the game will now be somewhat randomized.

Umbrella chronicles is still my favourite it was really cool going back and playing the classics with updated graphics.

Nerdmaster1510d ago

I would say I thought Darkside Chronicles was better mainly because 2, Code Veronica and 4 (kind of represented in the game by Leon and Krauser) are my favorite games. But the super shaky camera in Darkside really bothered me...

Late in the Game Review: 'Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City'

The Gamer's Ghost returns in this Late in the Game Review series to revisit Raccoon City. Did Slant Six Games' premier Resident Evil title hold up to the series' standards? Or was it rotten, like the very zombies spawned from Umbrella's dastardly research?

I actually thought this was a fun game. Was it great? No. But there were some very cool moments in the game.

Stand outs were taking on the Nemesis with a group and the Tyrant on the elevator.

One if the worst games I ever had the dishonor of playing I'm glad Capcom has rebounded to making quality games now even outside the RE series.
