Power Cords writes: As a gamer, I have a handful of games I hold in high regard; whether they be standalone experiences or entire franchises, like any videogame fan there are certain titles that have stuck with me ever since I pressed start. Any attentive reader knows by now my love for franchises like Metroid and The Elder Scrolls, and how much I enjoyed games like Red Dead Redemption, Symphony of the Night, or Fallout 2, among many others. Many of these franchises still have new entries being released, or the games themselves are recent enough or timeless enough that game design hasn’t passed them by. But there’s one series that defined my taste in games — and really most types of fictional storytelling in general — that is no longer around: The Legacy of Kain.
Vampire games are making a comeback of late, and gamers hoping this is a new trend should look back at the 7 best vampire games ever made.

A Best Vampire Game list and no Bloodborne. A bold choice, indeed.
IMO, I wouldn't consider bloodborne a vampire game. Long story short, It's more about the side effects of the blood experiment and the influence of the red moon, than actually being a vampire.
Yes, Bloodborne is about Vampires. It's not just the undertones, or the imagery or the obvious parallels, it's pretty much everything and then some. Here's the thing, Bram Stoker's Dracula is also not a Vampire novel. Why? Because technically Vampires from folklore were something else.
But based on our updated view of what Vampires are, informed in one way or another by Bram Stoker's Dracula, Nosferatu The Vamprye, and many other stories, and combined with From Software's own interpretation, we can say with confidence that Bloodborne IS a Vampire story. Sure, there are other elements, but the central narrative is pretty much Vampires. Which would make it THE Vampire game. I mean, Cainhurst Castle. Anyways, that's how I see it.
But to each their and we'll agree to disagree.

No Blood Omen? Even today it's one of my favourite vampire games. We could really do with a release on modern platforms.
I really enjoyed Vampyr. The combat is a little clunky and could use some work. However, the story, characters, dialog. setting, and pretty much everything else in the game is great.

Dino Crisis and Legacy of Cain I can get behind. The others, meh. I would also love to see a Remake of Resident Evil: Outbreak, Legend of Dragoon, and Jade Empire.
I absolutely love Banjo Kazooie but holy crap is a Dino Crisis remaster such a massive opportunity for Capcom.
The engine they have used for the RE Remakes is perfect and it would be so cool to see the first two games remade.
Mercenaries, True Crime, Dead to Rights, Max Payne, Manhunt, Duke Nukem, Prince of Persia, Burnout, Matrix, Outrun, Jet Set Radio, Otogi, Kenka Banco, Syphon Filter, Power stone, San Francisco Rush, and despite not being a series, BLACK
The Saints Row reboot needs a reboot. Saints Row 2 holds up quite well, but the original needs a remake at least. Keep everything exactly the same, just with better graphics.
The legacy of Kain series has always been an interest story especially the first Blood Omen. If they do revitalize the series I am hoping or requesting they give good sequels to other titles that had this same gothic feel like Primal or BloodRayne. However I do have Soul Reaver on the PS3 from the store and still dig on it. Nice write up.
I've always liked the Soul Reaver series better then the blood omen. Don't get me wrong Kain's story was good, but the interest of Raz was a much better story too me. in this reboot I hope they have proper closer to the story of Soul Reaver the ending for the last one left a lot of questions, and also left me underwhelmed because *****spoiler alert******* for Raz to chase Kain through time to figure out he is his sword wasn't the jaw dropping ending I was looking for, and to add that 3 second look on kain's face over looking the city of Nosgoth to the tune of end credits left me a little upset.
Aaaaaaaaaaah Soul Reaver is one of my top 10 games of all time.
All these franchises tomb raider,crash bandicoot,final fantasty,spyro etc. Have all gone downhill for one reason. Their not exclusive to playstation anymore. Next gen soby needs to work on bringing all these games back to their glory days.
