During a recently released edition of Iwata Asks, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata sat down with Super Smash Bros. developer Masahiro Sakurai to discuss his latest creation, Kid Icarus Uprising. The interview began with some discussion of how Uprising came about in the first place - which apparently stemmed from Iwata's desire for Sakurai to work on something original.
BLG writes: "While it didn’t sell as well as the Nintendo DS, the Nintendo 3DS was nonetheless a wonderful system. And, while this may be a hot take, it’s easily my favorite handheld. Even more than a decade removed from launch, the system’s library has so many titles that feel as fresh today as they did back at release. While it was hard to narrow down, these 30 Nintendo 3DS games are emblematic of the system’s success."

Nintendo has always been known for flaunting fine-tuned gameplay over full-blown narratives, however, Kid Icarus: Uprising literally flipped the script as it shined with its writing, story, and characters above all else.
