Kara Tech Demo - Quantic Dream's Cryptic Hints Decoded

Inside Quantic Dream’s GDC tech demo, a couple of details hint that this could in fact become a full blown game.

@deep_fried How can you say it has no replay value, it had 8 different endings ,nearly everything you did or spoke to in the game you could do differently which resulted in different outcomes. Heavy rain is a model for replay value.

It may have had 8 different endings but that doesn't mean it was an attractive option to play it again. It's a game I enjoyed while I played but not a game that I would ever play again. The gameplay was really off putting.

Whatever "Kara" is, the video we saw was brilliant and powerful. It left the viewer saying "wow" at the end. I would love to see something more come out of this.

There were "some" little ones that get over-exaggerated but other than that, the main story does a great job of tying loose ends.

Some people are willing to pay $30 for a movie. I certainly won't. I didn't say it wasn't creative. Heavy Rain was a pretty enjoyable experience, I am just hoping for a more compelling gameplay experience.

And by the way, I fucking LOVE Indiana Jones/Fate of Atlantis, as well as The Day of the Tentacle. Couple of my all-time favorite games. This company's previous games haven't a whole lot to compare to those or any point-and-click adventure games.

Wow awesome info is true so tried of shooters even though I'm playing UC3,BF3.I love all types of games no matter what genre.

There is nothing wrong with shooters but this genre gets the least amount of ground-breaking games.Their are some like UC2,Socom 1-2,MAG,& KZ2...

Hopefully I can get Fiv5 and K.A.R.A. this gen ;)

I didn't care for Heavy Rain and its predictable story line (same for their characters) but I did like what I've seen of this. They definitely need to make this into a game considering that small demo had more emotion than all of Heavy Rain put together.

I think you'd have to be a retard to think that Heavy Rain is unpredictable (even their poorly placed plotholes gave it away not to mention you can't really kill EVERYBODY which was another dead giveaway). I mean even the American boxart for the game gave away the ending and that pretty much made my theory solid so when the ending came it wasn't a shock or a mystery. My reaction at the end of the game was "I knew it..." and overall it was disappointing. Even Indigo Prophecy was better.

As a German native speaker and someone who had French in school for five years: The translation of both the German and the French texts are utterly wrong. I cannot imagine how the author got the translation so wrong, so my best guess is that this is a hoax post.

Ah the more you try the more haters you get. No one ever questions all the plot holes. idiotic concepts and plots that sound like they have been written by an 8 year old. But as soon as anyone tries to tell a more complex story suddenly everyone is an English teacher and can see all the plot holes and everything that is wrong.

Give David Cage a break for the love of all that is good. It is hard to make a complex story full of mystery and intrigue and able to fill every plot hole and inconsistency. Other people drag through the inane predictable plots of many games and come out saying 'that was the best story ever' but we have constantly listen to everything that David did wrong.

I have listened to people groan on about how unbelievable UC2 was and going on about how did he get Elena back to the village while in the same breath telling me that Gears of War's story was better then UC2. Which just shows what people really know about good stories.

Heavy Rain and Cage get picked on for story because that is the focus of the games. And he constantly claims to want to bring a higher standard of writing to games, so naturally people are going to focus more attention to the story and it's flaws. Sure most game's stories are shit but people expect that and ignore it for the most part, because it is only a small part of the game and so most games can be great while ignoring the story.

That music is a japanese folk music and the word yellow (kiiro) is nowhere in the lyrics.

I speak German, and you are absolutely correct. She repeats a part of the initialization message in German. The French part, I'm almost 100% sure, she does the same.

The German really translates to:

"I am a third generation AX400-android, created to be your personal assistant and partner for intimate relations."
How they made it to be: "Contemptuous and Junior athletes generally take a problem and Process it. I see a person you see a system, that it seems" is beyond me.

While I don't speak any French, the first part in French is exactly the same.

I'll be quite sad if Kara doesn't somehow make it into QD's next game. More than sad, I think I'll honestly be disappointed. If they decide against implementing this concept directly into a game, perhaps they'll continue it in a feature length film of some sort. I could be content with that, I suppose.

But I REALLY wanna play a game built around that seven minutes of amazing.
