For me GOD of WAR 3 is the pedestal franchise when it comes to strategic and cinematic boss battle experience in terms of scale and bloody violence.

God of War is the only series where the gore and violence is actually done right. I've seen lots of games with this stuff and it just turns out lame.

Ohh the list fails in NG Black. I love the franchise but its not as bloody as GOW3 and others. Also Where is The Darkness 2 ( if anyone played it you can understand why) and where is the goriest king SPLATTERHOUSE... it may not be as good as those mentioned but its the goriest... Just my 2 cents

GOW series is incredible from an artistic and story point of view, now I only hope they can evolve the gameplay beyond its current state for GOWIV to make something truly worthy of being called a masterpiece.

There are bloodier games than God of War.

Soldier of Fortune is bloodier than any video game on this list. Higher degree of dismemberment, more gore, etc. The person who wrote the article is probably primarily a console gamer... from Germany.

True, there are allot more bloodier games than GOW but games that are more brutaly gruesome and violent? GOW still reigns, its not just about shooting a guys head in half, its the way Kratos killed his victims, brutaly beating them to death or slowly tearing off body parts or how about forcing his thumbs into their eyes.

these are the games with the most gore. not violence...GORE. and TONS of games have more gore than any god of war game.

Rockstar's The Warriors tops my list. First of all you can do it all in co-op and it's absolutely unnecessary: you walk up to an innocent bystander, say the girl with the schoolbooks. You grab here for a quick headbut & drag her screaming in in an alley to throw her in the trash. After a good elbowdrop your buddy picks her up so you can break a bottle on her head and shove it up her stomach, after that you can still throw her trough a window to continue with various shop items or just keep on kicking while she's down untill she stops making that horrifying sound. Lovely, and not a word in the press=)

Putting your thumbs in Poseidon's eyeballs was pretty cool to, I remember feeling quite disgusted when I released my thumbs from the sticks. Very well done. Bashing Hercules' face in was a highlight to, not just 1 or 2 times, no no...áll the way through the floor.

gears has gore but its not realistic to me. The graphics are great but its just isn't as realistically gory as solider of fortune or god of war. I can't really explain it.

I'm glad to see manhunt at the #1 spot. I do think the newest mortal kombat for ps3 is the goriest one out of the series though. I would think so, more than 4 for the Pc. I never played that one though so I cant say for certain. I also think dead space needs to be mentioned.

This list fails and so does the Author. I stopped reading when he put down MK4 on the PC. Seriously? MK4 was good but only on console WHERE IT BELONGS. Second, the new MK game is the goriest out of any in the series and third (and this one takes the cake) is when he described Raiding using his razor sharp hat. That's Kung Lao you MORON!

And no GOW? How the hell are you not going to have Gears on this list? I'm going to throw up. Someone hand me a bag.
