Once all of Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2’s nuisances are compiled, players might dismiss the game as a lackluster effort. Yet, there’s an undeniable charm and persistent gratification that simmers just beneath the surface, delivering the occasional lascivious laugh or smile-inducing industry reference.
So many great games, so many franchises saved by developers revisiting exactly what it is players want. Hopefully, other developers wallowing in mediocrity can look to these games as blueprints for what they should do going forward.
