Default Prime: "I've just recently finished the best JRPG I’ve played since Final Fantasy 7. It’s been a long time since a game has moved me so much. Persona 3 could best be described as a RPG with social simulation elements that came out in 2007 for North America. But that would be a disservice to the complexity and depth of the game as there’s a whole lot more involved. I’m currently stationed in Asia and I’ve found myself thinking back on the experience I had during my recent play-through of Persona 3. It was so good that my wife, who’s only finished three games in her life, played the entire 100+ hour campaign with me."
The studio was on the verge of collapse when Persona 3 came out, and things were looking quite grim for Atlus. Regardless, many decisions made in the game paid off and became a staggering success.
Years ago, I was emulating the game on my laptop and the old thing died when I was about to get to the final boss. I'm more than happy to buy this remake when it comes out so I can finish it!
At the time I was immersed in SMT Nocturne and later DDS. I did not realize at all how important Persona would become for me years later.
Persona 3 FES was the first one that I played in the series. Looking forward to the remake.
The P3RE.JP has seen an update to its domain today, suggesting that the rumored Persona 3 Remake could be announced in the near future.
Half-Glass Gaming: "Often considered one of the darker entries in Atlus' Persona series, Persona 3 definitely has a sinister vibe to it, and it leans into horror more than you might realize."
I actually liked P4 better. o_o I tried to get into P3 for a long while, sank about 30 hours into it, but it never really captivated me the way Persona 4 did. Plus before I could finish P3 I got spoiled on the ending which is a huge killer based on what happens (kinda hard to play through after that knowledge lol).
That's a real shame :( but despite having read this in all its spoiler-ridden glory, I actually want to play it now! Just a shame it's quite expensive on PSP/Vita...
Persona 4 personally had the better story but that does not make Persona 3 a slouch though. The game was masterful & really put the series on the map for us gamers in the west. If the persona team can duplicate that magic for the current/next gen consoles than that would be a godsend.
As you can see from my avatar i am a big fan of the series so i look forward to see what Persona 4 The Golden will offer.
Wierd that some folks would think P3 is the best JRPG on the PS2. There are some mighty contenders for that title -- Shadow Hearts: Covenant, Rogue Galaxy, FF X, DQ VIII... just to name a few.
P3 is a good game, but declaring it "best" is a bit much, for me. Still the article does a fine job of pointing out why P3 was so good, in retrospect.
Lol ok this is a joke right?
