ChipIn Page Raises Nearly $27,000 for Charity to Change Mass Effect 3 Ending

A Chipin group called “Retake Mass Effect” has raised nearly $27,000 as of this writing for the Child’s Play Charity. Retake Mass Effect started the donation to bring a positive, community-driven effort to convince BioWare to release an alternate ending to Mass Effect 3.

Well that will probably buy them 0.000001 seconds worth of game.

Get over it, it was Biowares ending to do with as it pleased. We got hundreds of hours of entertainment from all three games and yet people still find idiotic reasons to complain.

GET OVER IT.

--Onilink--4423d ago (Edited 4423d ago )

just because you have the attention span of a 5year old and cant notice the absurd amount of plot holes and nonsense in the ending means people are complaining about idiotic reasons.

Also this is not raising money to change the ending, this is a petition to change the ending that is also going to give the earnings to a charity to show to everyone that the people complaining are not "entitled whiners" as some websites like to claim

honestly, did you not notice the HUGE amount of errors in the ending?

SneeringImperialist4423d ago (Edited 4423d ago )

Ignorant people like Noticeably_FAT are too dumb to understand why the endings were so bad.

DG904423d ago

... Fact is.. Their not going to change the ending.

Wigriff4423d ago

I don't expect them to actually change it, but I disagree that it is pointless to openly debate the ending. What BioWare seems to forget is the story belongs to the players as well. If the consumer - the person responsible for generating BioWare's income - is this dissatisfied with the end product, their opinions should be heard. Ending aside, BioWare and EA have participated in deceptive and unethical business practices: lying to consumers, splicing off on-disc content to market as DLC, making debasing comments about fans, etc. Companies like EA and Capcom take advantage of end-users, and this sort of backlash from gamers is important. Making a stand as consumers, letting it be known that this sort of treatment is unacceptable, can actually change things in the industry. The backlash against BioWare/EA over all of the issues surrounding Mass Effect 3 is unprecedented, and may be the swell that breaks the levee; the impetus that forces the industry to reevaluate treatment of their audience.

Although I agree with near enough every word you said.. If someone is going to try & make a change in the gaming industry why not instead of trying to 'raise money' to get a games ending change when everybody knows they will not change the ending how bout do a petition to have on-disc DLC be free as you pay the money for the game you should get it free as it is already on the disc you purchased?

The only thing I can see honestly happening is Bioware doing some sort of make good DLC FREE of charge.. but I even highly doubt that.

Pintheshadows4423d ago

I don't want them to change it. I want them to explain it and perhaps add some text like in Dragon Age offering some closure.

As it stands it is poorly written and full of inexplicable holes. I like debating endings but this is for all the wrong reasons.

JsonHenry4423d ago

Is the ending that bad? I almost don't want to finish the game after all the negative talk about the ending.

SeraphimBlade4423d ago (Edited 4423d ago )

Did you play Human Revolution? That's the first thing I'd compare it to, without going into too much detail.

I didn't hate it, but if you're expecting a ten-minute slideshow like in Dragon Age reminding you of the choices you made, then you're barking up the wrong tree.

--Onilink--4423d ago (Edited 4423d ago )

not only that, but be prepared for a complete feast of plot holes and canon errors. They are pretty much dismissing the entire plot of ME1, a huge part of ME2 and pretty much everything you have acomplished in ME3 in the last 5min just to create a controversial ending.

Not to mention the events that ocurr in the ending itself make no sense whatsoever

Still, do complete the game, everything before the last 5min is amazing, then just pretend the remaining 5min are the ending of a diferent game (the fact that the end of a franchise spanning 3games/100+h of gameplay is done in 5min should give you a headsup...)

Simon_Brezhnev4423d ago

Yeah the ending is really that bad. Like most people say the game is good until last 20 minutes. Just stop there and make up your own ending. LOL. The ending is so bad people have to make up stuff to justify it.

SeraphimBlade4423d ago

Thank God the money goes straight to Child's Play when you donate. Because it's not gonna get anything else done.

Actually, if the ending inspired so many to donate to charity, then that's gotta be the best ending ever.

--Onilink--4423d ago

or one so bad that people are trying anything to find a way to change it

SeraphimBlade4423d ago

yeah, that's kinda the joke there.

Legionaire20054423d ago

$27,000 dollars for charity in hopes to change the Mass Effect 3? As if a petition is not enough. Shoot you would think they would do this to our government, in hopes of revealing a 75 year old secret about UFOs? I guess we don't know how much power we have, until its taken away. But I digress.

The Mass Effect ending needs to change. Maybe they have something big on the way, cause they told us not to return our copies. Maybe a DLC ending, couple of maps, and a sequel right? Whatever nuff said!!!
