The original "online pass", from way back in the day...
BLG writes, "Alongside the Wolfenstein and DOOM franchises, there are the Quake games. Known for fast-paced and insane multiplayer deathmatch action, there was a time Quake was best known for its single-player design.
That all changed as time passed (i.e., after Quake 3 Arena). Multiplayer deathmatches were never the same.
As other FPS games leaned more into improved narrative and storytelling, id Software delivered a genre-defining multiplayer experience.
Quake 3, and the iterations, will always be one of the best multiplayer series releases.
As far as campaigns, I think 1 and 4 are great, but that 2 was garbage.
Quake Champions was a joke on and didn't capitalize on much of anything that made the series great.
With Quake and Quake II unlocked now that Bethesda has reached their goal of 10K for charity; they have revealed that Quake III is now in play should they hit their next goal of 20K.
DSOGaming writes: "Modder 'I-Iemn' has been working on a HD graphics overhaul for the past ten years, and this mod is right now available for download."
I still have my Quake 3 case with the cd key on the front also ;>.
some of the best gaming days ever.
A CD-key is something that PC games used to all have, even before quake 3. Usually you could install a game using the same cd key on multiple PCs, but only one person could use the CD key at a time when online in games. Not sure how it was on quake 3 tho, but PC games had CD keys way before quake 3, and they are the original reason why there is no used PC game market(now PC sales are mostly digital and those are not sold used either)
