A game is always more immersive if the protagonist has a clear motivation. As such, modern games see heavily detailed characters, some with backstories so complex you’d need a flow chart to figure everything out. However, as with everything in the gaming industry, just because it’s done often, doesn’t mean it’s done well. Here are 5 of the worst characters (read: protagonists) in current-gen gaming.

There is a decent fan base for the Nioh games, but still think they are criminally overlooked and under appreciated.
I just bought the PS5 collection to replay them again with all their DLC, a sweet collection for my games shelf for sure.

originally it wasn't going to be included because of their take on Samus' character. But the gameplay's actually not bad.
Honestly, I don't know if we can even blame them for that take. Nintendo's Sakamoto was credited as the writer and from what we learned later with the Retro Studios interviews for the Prime series, Nintendo apparently never saw Samus as this stoic badass that most of the west imagined her as. Going as far as describing her as "motherly".

Anthem; I'd forgotten that game existed. I remember thinking the trailer was BS though; turns out I was right.

$3 billion and counting along with alot of users. I disagree with that being on the list. This list is just a person opinion without merit
I havent played Genshin Impact and Mafia 3 was alright. The rest though I kind of agree with.
I loved the 1st Kane and Lynch and I could not understand how the 2nd game was as bad as it was.
Duke Nukem Forever originally began its life as a sidescroller instead of a shooter back in 1996, and that canceled version has just been leaked.
