To Hardcore Gamers: Wii Doesn't Suck

TheParanoidGamer Writes: "As a hardcore gamer that primarily plays Xbox, it’s easy for myself and others to be dismissive of Nintendo’s little white box that could. Motion controlling is usually annoying, the graphics are behind the times, and awesome game series like Assassin’s Creed and Mass Effect don’t come to the system due to it being so far outside the others experience that porting wouldn’t work. However, if you’ve never tried the Wii out because you considered it too kiddy or you were just too busy with your other system you might give it a shot. It could just surprise you."

The Wii has plenty of "hardcore" games. Most people just don't do any research to find any.

Be honest - most of you don't click on the Wii tab here at N4G and IGN, and GameTrailers.

Any knowledgeable gamer knows that the Wii has a great library.

PirateThom4433d ago

I don't. I know the Wii has great games, but the controller and the fact I have an HDTV, just makes me not care... I'm not the only one.

Shok4433d ago

That's fine. As long as you know lol.

You don't have to like a system, just don't be ignorant of it's library, ya know?

Titanz4433d ago

I also have the Gamecube playback model, and some Wii games function with Gamcube controller pads (Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Goldeneye:007)."Monster Hunter Tri" is a core as a game a game could get, and people still are ignoring it.

Even if gamers miss out on the Wii generation, the Wii U will have Wii playback - so you'll have a chance to try out Wii games you've missed out on (imagine playing Wii games directly streamed to the Wii U pad controller, while in bed!? Amazing).

PirateThom4433d ago

Shame not all the games are compatible with the controller.

I think the problem is that Wii positioned its self as a casual console which meant, in a mainstream sense, people just... forgot that it has a library of core titles.

Theres no such thing as Hardcore games just Hardcore gamers

Blaine4433d ago

So Demon's Souls and Angry Birds are the same, in your eyes?

Knight_Cid4433d ago

Its sad that an article like this needs to educate the morons.

The wii had a far superior hardcore exclusive library than the gamecube did. Thats for sure

The Nintendo Wii entertainment console has an outstanding amount of hardcore games. The games may not be full of guns, blood, and profanity. But you will have a more difficult and challenging time completing any Zelda, Mario, Metroid, or most other Nintendo in house exclusives then most shooters.

I am personally using shooters because they dominate the playing field on the rival HD consoles.

There are plenty of great full complete hardcore games to be played on the Nintendo Wii console.

I never got around to mass effect - I’m skeptical that it would hold up if I were to try it now

Furesis2h ago

I would say it does. The combat is a bit shit for todays standards but everything else is great.

It's worth a play through today.

El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron - Coming Back for a New Generation

Originally launched in 2011, El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron is coming to Nintendo Switch, so It's time to look back at the original.

jznrpg21h ago

Still have my ps3 copies. Bought it at launch and another one when I found it cheap and in perfect condition about 10 years ago. I wouldn’t buy it on Switch but if they made a PS5 version I would. I still have one of my PS3 Fats hooked up so good to go either way.

darthv7221h ago

Id play it again on the switch. I wished my 360 version was bc but this is still a good way to play.

Fallout 3's Reveal Led To Death Threats And Bethesda's First Security Guard

The artist behind Fallout 4’s Deathclaw reveals just how bad things got back when Bethesda took over the series

anast23h ago

People are stupid I get it. No one should feel unsafe,

But I think they need to talk about why they cut so many corners during the development process and why none of their games ever look current. And why they think all of this is okay while they charge full price.

LucasRuinedChildhood22h ago

As much as Bethesda deserve criticism, that's not really relevant to the reveal of Fallout 3 in 2007.

VenomUK19h ago

The default angle Kotaku always go for is to highlight the worst in gaming.

I would’ve focused on the creative.

anast1h ago

The game went downhill at Fallout 3's release. This is when they started to cut corners.

gold_drake18h ago

there is no "but". the hell lol
you dont send death threats, period.

anast1h ago

Usually, you have good comments but this isn't one of them. It just rides the mob. We can do both condemn the actions and not let them use it for other things.

I can say I received a death threat and everyone needs to shut up. People are not honest and will use horrible things to their advantage.

Armaggedon13h ago

Not all games “look” current.

anast1h ago

Their games always look like the gen before it.
