Every game like this will ALWAYS get a score roughly in this area. it's just the rule when it comes to the mainstream gaming media.

You won't get any honest reviews about AAA titles from just about anyone. The mainstream will pretend the game is way better than it is. and the non-mainstream will be like "dude, OMG! head shots are awesome." because apparently 99% of gamers never exceed the mental maturity of a 12 year old.

And some fanboy had the idiocy to complain about how LOW the score is. If all they had to complain about was how the graphics KINDA took a hit, then overzealous fanboys need to shut the hell up and enjoy the freaking game. I'm the biggest fan Mass Effect ever had, but you won't catch me complaining about how low they score on critics' ratings because their high points FAR outstrip their low points.

Some people are willing to overlook small issues if it will mean they will have a good time.

Sure the DLC stuff is annoying, but it wont stop me from enjoying Mass Effect 3. I'm getting the collectors edition for 70 bucks (had some amazon credit) so that one character dlc doesn't really affect me.

For those getting the standard edition, yeah it sucks, but it's not as if the game will be an unenjoyable pile of crap without it. It will still (most likely) end up being a great and fun game, and that's enough for some people.

Ok I get it... sure people are pissed of at EA and Bioware for the first day DLC and all the other DLC nonsense.

But for the love of god, most of it is not needed. I mean really is that new team member going to do anything for you?

Probably be like Kasumi or Zaeed where you do a loyalty mission, but after that have no interaction with them.

EA's practices are questionable.. hell they are down right dirty, but no one can deny that Mass Effects are good games.

The problem is EA ended up pissing of ME fans like me.

Im still getting this game because I love Mass Effect. Not Ea.

Zaeed was probably my favorite team member in the game. Plus his loyalty mission was one of my favorites in the whole series; especially if you do the paragon route.

Kasumi's mission was also extremely fun to play and hope ME3 lives up to my relatively high expectations.

Mass Effect is an RPG with shooter elements. Borderlands is a shooter with RPG elements.
The difference mechanics-wise between these two is so vast that you can't even classify both games into the same category.

The animations are very dated as is the gameplay but the gameplay has improved some. The story is what this series is for.

As a games reviewer myself, I hate seeing people calling a 9 a low score. I mean, I can score a game I enjoy and that is genuinly good a 7/7.5, because that translates to 75% perfect. When the hell did 75% of perfection turn into an insult or a bad score? And now a 9/10 is a low score? Thats rediculous.

I understand peoples gripe, but the DLC is a side quest that does not influence the main campaign at all. I plan on getting this game standard addition and will pass on the DLC at launch. I am still going to experience the amazing ME3 story @ $60.

I'm a huge fan of Mass Effect. But Bioware have really turned me off since jumping into bed with EA.

I'm going to pick this up, around the end of this year. Used. Just to finsh my Shepard's story.

Gripe all you want about the day one dlc but the fact of the matter is they're a business and the dlc they're offering doesn't effect the story so I don't see the problem. This dlc by them only became a problem when it was announced that everyone could get it not just the collectors edition people. I get the argument of "it should've been included on the disk." But you're wrong because they're already offering you a 20-40 hour experience. Besides if you don't want it don't buy it you have the option.

I still can't put it on my list until I find out if they've fixed the ridiculously low framerate on the PS3 (not trolling, the PS3 is the only system I own and is easily the best console I've ever owned but the demo for this one game runs like shit).

I can handle the seemingly scaled back graphics from the second game, like having to look at the point where the hair on the back of my Sheperd's head ends in a perfectly straight line and his neck is just painted brown to simulate the rest of it.

I can handle the fact that the plot seems to be based around persuading other races to give a little opposition to these giant aliens that are destroying all life in the Universe (hmmmm, how to explain to this alien leader that that's a bad thing?).

I just can't handle the steady but incredibly low framerate. Maybe it's something to do with my eyes but I can't even see what's going on with such a stuttery framerate, my mind just won't take in the information.

From what I've read, the framerate and technical issues in the Earth opening level are still horrendous, BUT it mostly clears up for some reason afterwards. All sequels from successful series are over hyped. You need to take the hype with a grain of salt, otherwise you will always be disappointed, since very few sequels live up to the hype they create.

I want it, and am just now playing through ME2 on pc to get back into the story, with Skyrim and Kingdoms of Amalar still on my hard drive waiting to be beat, there is no rush, plus I am replaying demons souls with my wife on ps3, so, I'm gonna wait ME3 out a bit, my instinct is to just rush out and buy it buy, heck, why not save a little cash!

Judging by how much people are going to buy this, EA is going to have a field day stripping even more rights from gamers. I might as well apply to EA and get piece of the pie myself....

And before anyone says, "well if you don't like it, don't buy it!", we already so far that notion carried this generation. Mainly because other companies are copying the same thing because gamers enjoy being duped apparently and profits from games like this gives them a license to print money.

For those who say, "It's already a 40 or so hours RPG experience", Final Fantasy X was at least 70 hours while costing 10 dollars less and even that was considered short compared to others of it's ilk. Persecute me for wearing my nostalgia glasses but I know when I'm being screwed over.....

How are you being screwed over? I'm sure the budget for ME3 is much larger than that of FF X regardless of length. And there are still plenty of games that are less than 10 hours that still cost that much. And further more, all of the Mass Effect games have tons of replay value. Final Fantasy is a linear franchise in terms of ending and narrative. Thy always end the same, no matter what. If having more bang for your buck is "getting screwed over" then you are in a sorry state.
