Review: Alan Wake's American Nightmare is a Disappointment (Padinga)

You may hear that “Alan Wake’s American Nightmare” is impressive for a DLC title, but don’t let such a backhanded compliment fool you; at the core, this is a pretty disappointing experience. If you liked the original “Alan Wake,” you might have some fun revisiting an old friend, but for those on the fence, Remedy’s new title will do nothing to convert you.

and yet it doesn't have a new multi player mode. the horde mode is single player only.

also do note that its combat mechanics are actually pretty neat and while they may get stale after many hrs this will only last about 5. also its combat is no more repetitious than say almost any fps out there currently.

lastly i agree, the story makes no sense what so ever. its def a solid game but not amazing. def has the potential to be though. id say a 7.5

totally agree.. i´m very disappointed that remedy spent more time developing a useless and out of place multiplayer/hore mode than a great storyline which the first one had

I'm loving the game so far. I'm only about half way through but I'd give it an 8.75. If it had CoOp I'd give it a 9.0. I'd give the original a 9.5.

Alan Wake 2 is Where the Franchise Needs to go

Welcome back Link Cable Gaming fans, by far one of my favourite surprises of the Game Awards was the surprise announcement of Alan Wake 2. Alan Wake developed by Remedy Entertainment, and released in May 2010 on the Xbox 360, Alan Wake 2 will finally be brought back. While we were treated just this year to the surprise Alan Wake Remastered earlier in October 2021, or Alan Wake’s American Nightmare in February 2012, fans never got a true sequel. What will the future of the Alan Wake franchise look like?

Perfect! a sequel that will remind me of the smell of mildew and damp coffee grounds with a side of deadly premonition.

Where else would the franchise go? Seems like a sure thing. American Nightmare should be in the remake though.

You know I was thinking alternatives right?
For all it could have been, you know how the sequel market is sometimes, weird spin - offs, spiritual successors, reimagining, a VR walking simulator (bleh) and all that.
I like the idea of an evolved sequel way more

I guess Alan Wake got a redesign lol.
Because I thought it was Jared Leto lol
