Deep Silver and PR agency Lunch PR have been accused by members of the games industry of hosting an "enormously crude" party to celebrate the launch of its upcoming release Catherine.

In the end though, after playing the game, they really* didn't know how to market this game. The marketing makes you feel like it's gonna be an extremely perverted game but it's actually pretty tame.

Whether people whine or not, they should've done this differently just to properly portray their game.

It isn't THAT terrible, considering it's a game meant for adults, but it doesn't really make the industry look good, especially advertising for a game that discusses sex and relationships very maturely compared to others. Having it at a plain old bar (like where you spend half the game) would have been more appropriate.

Actually, better idea: have it at that club, find out the girlfriends of the guys coming, and tell them to walk in on it an hour later.

I think the perfect spot for the event would have been a "bar" since that is where Vincent and his friends spend most of their time in the game anyway. That would have matched the theme of the game perfectly.

I don't know about sexism...but it is a pretty lousy way to market the game. Catherine isn't just about sex and boobs. It's a really well-done and mature game that explores relationships and cheating. Yet there are still many gamers who think it's just a silly hentai game because the marketing made it seem like that.
