Sonic is a hedgehog of many reboots, and he’s been struggling to find his place in the current generation of consoles since his critically-panned debut on the 360 and PS3 back in 2006. The obvious question surrounding this latest entry in the Sonic franchise is: has the blue blur finally carved his niche back into the gaming world after what some consider an extended vacation from greatness?
Sonic the Hedgehog has a long and turbulent history in videogames, but which are the best games featuring the blue bur?
Generations over Mania? Please… Generations doesnt have any new ideas in the levels/bosses.
Also a top 7 of Sonic games shouldn’t have any 3D crap and contain at least one of the 8-bit titles.
Sonic CD getting snubbed is weird. Number 1 is definitely interchangable between Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
Top 7 for me
7 cd
6 mania
5 Frontiers
4 sonic 3
3 sonic 1
2 sonic and knuckles
1 sonic 2
Sometimes I feel like the Sonic Advanced games just didn’t exist with how much it’s always forgotten 😭
The divide between both iterations of Sonic is now reaching spin-off territory, and the way Sega is handling it is both a blessing and a curse.
BLG writes: "With the success of the films and the promise of Frontiers, it’s possible that we’re ushering in a new golden age of Sonic the Hedgehog. While Sega is looking forward, the company is also looking back. It’s giving us Sonic Origins, a retooled collection of Genesis classics. However, this package fails to provoke a burning question: what’s the best Sonic handheld game?"
Nice review - definitely made some good points there, and having played the demo I'm pleased to get a little more info.
I've just ordered this game. This review kinda sums up what I expected from this game in the first place.
I've been playing the original sonic recently and thinking to myself "when will they actually make a decent new one". I guess this answers the question :)
