it will be released on current hardware.really doubt R* would release the same game on next gen hardware.

Well if new hardware is announced I don't see why it can't be on both. Many games were on both PS2/PS3 e.g. FIFA and others. All they need to do is scale the engine accordingly. PC games look a lot better than there console counterparts. How do you think this is achieved?

TimmyShire4483d ago

I agree. If Rockstar know something we don't (and let's face it, MS/Sony are going to want them on board) then they'll certainly want to cover all bases. I know I would if I was in charge :D

BattleTorn4483d ago

I agree. It could be release on next-gen as well, but that won't exclude the current-gen.

If not, GTA V will be the #1 reason for people backward-compatibilty (or some sort of digital release to replace it)

The GTA V debut Trailer showed too much for it not to be able to release on current-gen.

PS3, Xbox 360 - maybe later or simultaneously, PC too. Can't wait.

TimmyShire4483d ago

Doesn't seem to suspicious to me. I'd love for GTA 5 to be my first next-gen experience, and with those graphics already seen in that trailer, next-gen doesn't seem implausible.

PCE4483d ago

Next-gen on the Wii U? Sure. Rockstar is on board with this next-gen Nintendo system. PS4 might be a different story but they could port it over there as well if they release it in a GTA collection.

If Sony wasn't lying in saying that the PS4 will not show up at E3, I just couldn't see it coming out before the holiday season in 2013 at the earliest. I damn sure hope that GTAV will be out within the next year or so, which tells me that it would need to be on the PS3.

That doesn't mean that they wouldn't release a version on the PS4 whenever that comes out, but if it's more than a year after GTAV originally drops I would personally doubt it.

Kakihara4483d ago

If it's a current gen game I'm really looking forward to it, if it's next gen I'm disappointed as hell. It looks slightly better than GTA4 which isn't nearly a good enough leap in visuals, regardless of the fact that it'd be a launch title and regardless of the size of it.

More interested in money than giving fans what they want. Such a shame

CrimsonWing692d ago

With the amount of money they generated, I just don’t understand the scrubbing of this. It would’ve been fantastic for fans.

I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.

Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder

Ikr mfs that greedy it's ridiculous

andy852d ago

This makes me sad. Trevor was one of my favourite characters in gaming

One of the reason I believe once gta 6 release, most of us thoroughly play it, enjoy the world they crafted then after that no offline support, no dlc at all

Ex-Rockstar Dev Finally Explains Why Small Planes Randomly Crashed in GTA San Andreas

Former Rockstar Games Technical Director Obbe Vermeij has finally revealed why some planes would randomly crash in GTA: San Andreas.

Profchaos19d ago

This fly by feature was on the cutting room floor due to the random plane crashes and it's one of those things I'm so thankful made it into the final version as these random fly by and crashes make the world seem more alive on the extremely limited PS2 hardware you needed everything you could possibly get in a open world to convey that feeling.

And accross hundreds of hours of gameplay I probably died around 3 times as a result of these fly by failures but I loved every time it happened

isarai19d ago (Edited 19d ago )

It made the world feel more human, and honestly kinda insane that even today with all these open world games, almost no one can capture that like R* even when compared to their ps2 games

Skuletor18d ago

Lol, I remember those. I vaguely remember dying from one crashing into my car once too.
