Even though 2012 is here and gamers are moving on, there are still plenty of games from 2011 which might have gone unnoticed for whatever reason. The list includes Bulletstorm, Shadows of the Damned, Red Faction Armageddon, Driver San Francisco, El Shaddai, and many more.

Meh, the only 2 that are worth playing imo are Resistance 3 and Crysis 2. The others are very passable, especially considering all the really good ones that came out in 2011.

Broaden thy horizons good sir

Emilio_Estevez4477d ago

I've literally played all those games and those are the only 2. Maybe you need to accept that people have differing opinions. I'll play anything, just don't care for those others.

Catherine is the most underrated game of 2011 IMO. That game was so fun and the story was great

UNCyrus4478d ago

It sold pretty well considering it's a puzzle game. But still underrated, for sure. (Proud collector's edition owner)

Yi-Long4478d ago

... if it would have had an option for the original voices.

It doesn't, so I never bothered with it.

@ Yi

Actually the voice acting in English is surprisingly solid. It never really feels forced or stupid or anything. They all do a really good job so I think you should reconsider since it's a very good game.

Hicken4477d ago

You must not have much experience with ATLUS games. Though I'd have enjoyed the Japanese cast in their games, the English ones have been consistently top-notch.

Der_Kommandant4478d ago

Catherine is one of the best games ever created, hard as hell, challenging, great story and brings true adult themes to games.

Yui_Suzumiya4478d ago (Edited 4478d ago )

Hell yeah. Catherine is my GOTY for 2011 as well. Though I admit I used the Very Easy code which mode all the puzzle sections passable in under 30 seconds. Very Easy mode might has well been a God mode equivalent.

Kyosuke_Sanada4478d ago

El Shaddai is a great game that more people need to try......

Yui_Suzumiya4478d ago

All the underrated games of 2011 were the best. Catherine, Bulletstorm, Shadows of the Damned and Deus Ex: Human Revolution amongst others.

soundslike4478d ago

These games aren't underrated.

A true underrated game of 2011 would have to be DCUO. Its really not the turd people made it out to be.

Man, I’d love to get a sequel. I wish that’s was this was instead of a remaster, but it’s such a niche title. It won’t sell gamgbusters, unfortunately.

jznrpg18d ago

I am not sure what they are looking for sales wise but it can’t be much more than it originally sold if it’s even that much. I’d guess it just needs to sell well enough but who knows what that actually is. I still have the PS3 copy not sure if I’ll buy a remaster or not.

Great game, hopefully that we will get a sequel one day

Duty Calls - Epic Games' Forgotten Call of Duty Parody

Back in 2011, Epic Games and People Can Fly launched a Call of Duty parody - Duty Calls - that has been lost to the annals of history.

"Duty Calls: The Calm Before the Storm" sounds more like a massive case of the sh**s. 😂

I saw the parody mention, and half expected the ability to drop a deuce on your opponent... I left disappointed.

Bulletstorm - A Cult Classic Worthy of Revival?

Bulletstorm will soon receive a VR remake, but is it worth revisiting? Take a look back at the original 2011 release.

IMissJimRyan311d ago

Absolutely. I remember when the game came out on ps360, I thought: "wow, another shooter" and in the 7th gen that wasn't an unfair reaction.

But when the game was re-release on ps4 I took my time an played it (it was on playstation plus at the time) because, ironically, I missed a shooter in that console. And boy, what a fun game! They made a game to be played and not to be watched. It was a fresh air in the genre that deserved better.

So yes. Maybe it find its audience this time.

SullysCigar311d ago

It's an awesome game. The only exception (for my taste) is the script writing, which is OTT, but I guess that's what they were going for. It does at least match the OTT action and gore. I thought it was great overall and actually being in this game is going to be bonkers!

IMissJimRyan311d ago

Yeah, I agree that storywise it's not an Oscar nominee, but it's like a porn movie in game format.

Abnor_Mal311d ago (Edited 311d ago )

Agree with the over the top script, and felt at the time that was the only thing that people were hyped about, the language and not game play.

But in vr this game is going to be great. It has everything that would make a great vr game. Lots of bombastic action, gunplay, blood, and that leash.

Looking at the gameplay now it seems that the game was ahead of it’s time and was perfect for vr before vr wasn’t even off the ground.

Venoxn4g311d ago

I loved the game back in the day and will love in VR even more!

Yui_Suzumiya311d ago (Edited 311d ago )

I got it on PS3 at launch and am still waiting for the long rumored sequel to finally be announced. Currently have it on Switch and wish a physical version of that would be released. Absolutely love it.

FinalFantasyFanatic311d ago

I actually feel like this game gets revived all the time, not that I hate the game, I actually quite like it, it's just constantly available, unfortunately I'm not a fan of VR so I'll be skipping this version.
