I don't believe tbh.

I won't believe it.

...

iamnsuperman4490d ago

Your right not to. 2013 is far enough away to push back and bring the date forward without major problems but close enough to get some pre-orders. Just the stores trying to get early pre-orders

scotchmouth4489d ago

Place holders would have had max payne 3 at an aug 2011 release date. Place holders as the above poster mentioned serve for collecting preorder money.

Feckles4490d ago

It has to be 2012.

26 October is where my money is.

Crazyglues4488d ago (Edited 4488d ago )

my money is on May, if you listen to the conference call Rockstar had for their stock holders, the two top guys have been working on the game for awhile now..

They even said they were looking at an early 2012 launch to be reflected in the Q3 earnings..

for that to happen the game would have to come out around May so I'm going to go with May..

October would just be too far, and would be really crazy to release the trailer so far from launch.

R* doesn't ever show GTAs teasers until they are almost done the game (which is great IMO). This one should be NO different. 6-8 months, IMO.

fastrez4490d ago

I'm happy to wait for a game of this status.Any wait will be more than worth it imo.

Boody-Bandit4489d ago (Edited 4489d ago )

After GTAIV I peronally wouldn't call it a "game of this status" any more. Sorry but I think that game was a huge step backwards for the franchise and arguably the most over rated game this generation.

If anything I am holding off any and all hype until we have a lot more information about this iteration in the series.

This is just my opinion of course but feel I'm not in the minority on this.

FunkMacNasty4489d ago (Edited 4489d ago )

I don't think GTA IV was a huge step backward for Rockstar, because where else could they go with the franchise? To me GTA IV is the GTA game where rockstar truly came into their own with a mature narrative and a gritty portrayal of organized crime and it's personal consequences for the games's protagonist. I felt that they were able to effectively combine that dark, gritty story and narrative element with their trademark toungue-in-cheek satire of modern western culture. I've always been a fan of the GTA series for it's unparalleled open-world action and exploration, but GTA IV was the first game where I actually felt invested in the story's characters.

I am aware that the tone and realism of GTA IV was not a hit with everyone, and Rockstar's execution certainly wasn't flawless, but if they can find a way to trim some of the fat (like constant phone calls to go on social outings with friends/love interests), and add some of the elements that made the previous San Andreas game so much fun (like the customization and RPG elements) I think GTA V can be the game that bridges the gap between the ps2 era GTA's and GTAIV.

vortis4489d ago

I just wanted to add that MacNasty's comment is right on.

I know a lot of 14 year old N4G trolls would rather hump hookers and kill them in the back of a police car but I liked that they took a more mature approach with GTA IV. It's an exceptionally well-made game with a gritty and engaging atmosphere.

That's not to mention that anything worth complaining about in the main game was easily and effectively remedied with the DLC, which I thought was fantastically executed.

GTA V is worth the wait and I'd rather Rockstar do all that they can to make the game as fun and diverse as possible while also having a polished, well-told story and gameplay.

LiamIRL824490d ago

The way I see it is Rockstar released GTA 4 in April, RDR in May and LA Noire in May so I would guess a May release. Like MariaHelFutura said Rockstar don't announce games until they are nearly finished.

BattleTorn4489d ago

Their also known to have short marketing campaigns.

6-8 months.

MaideninBlack4490d ago (Edited 4490d ago )

I can see a 2013 release. RockStar didn't have it listed in their previous earnings report.

BattleTorn4489d ago

Hahaha. It's exactly what they DID have in their last financial conference. They predicted a 2point increase.

Which analyst figured could only be done with a new GTA release.

That was in their 2012 fiscal report; which starts ~april 2012, and ends March 2013.

Google it.

More interested in money than giving fans what they want. Such a shame

CrimsonWing692d ago

With the amount of money they generated, I just don’t understand the scrubbing of this. It would’ve been fantastic for fans.

Profchaos1d 22h ago

I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.

Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder

Demetrius1d 11h ago

Ikr mfs that greedy it's ridiculous

andy851d 21h ago

This makes me sad. Trevor was one of my favourite characters in gaming

Demetrius1d 11h ago

One of the reason I believe once gta 6 release, most of us thoroughly play it, enjoy the world they crafted then after that no offline support, no dlc at all

Ex-Rockstar Dev Finally Explains Why Small Planes Randomly Crashed in GTA San Andreas

Former Rockstar Games Technical Director Obbe Vermeij has finally revealed why some planes would randomly crash in GTA: San Andreas.

Profchaos19d ago

This fly by feature was on the cutting room floor due to the random plane crashes and it's one of those things I'm so thankful made it into the final version as these random fly by and crashes make the world seem more alive on the extremely limited PS2 hardware you needed everything you could possibly get in a open world to convey that feeling.

And accross hundreds of hours of gameplay I probably died around 3 times as a result of these fly by failures but I loved every time it happened

isarai19d ago (Edited 19d ago )

It made the world feel more human, and honestly kinda insane that even today with all these open world games, almost no one can capture that like R* even when compared to their ps2 games

Skuletor17d ago

Lol, I remember those. I vaguely remember dying from one crashing into my car once too.
