FFX Spoiler alert !
Final Fantasy XIII at 16, huh, ending was a bit emotional, but nowhere near FFX ; the ending scene when yuna ran towards tidus, only to pass thru him, before he fades away

Capt-FuzzyPants4495d ago

what made that last scene really sad was Rikku waving like an idiot. I don't think she understood what was going on.

PshycoNinja4495d ago

How can a single Kingdom Hearts game not make that list. The endings to 1, 2 and Birth by Sleep all brought me to tears. And I am a grown a** man. Final Fantasy X should be at the top however ****** MAJOR KINGDOM HEARTS SPOILERS AHEAD******* at the end of Kingdom Hearts it was so tear jerking when Sora let go of Kiari's hand and her home was brought back and then when she found that picture Sora drew of him giving her the "star fruit" man I bailed my eyes out. And in Birth by Sleep when all three heroes basically lost to Xehonort and had to put their hearts into other people. Man that got me too. ********* END SPOILERS**********

But whatever. Japanese have some different tastes than us.

iamtehpwn4495d ago

Because in Kingdom Hearts no one actually dies, they just become some other form of non-heart having life, and there's always an inevitable happy ending to everything.

PshycoNinja4494d ago

True but the same could be said about Final Fantasy X and VII. In VII when people die they enter the "life stream" and continue to "live". In X they "move on" to the afterlife and keep "living" on there. When people die in Kingdom Hearts they either become heartless and nobodies not knowing what they are doing, they go into the realm of darkness never to escape and are forced to wonder forever, or they are traped within their heart forever.

iamtehpwn - Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days was the saddest of the series. Roxas being born into a world without anyone, he makes two friendships that inevitably both end by him having to fight the person and end their existence. The ending with him holding his friend as she is fading away, him crying because he wouldn't have anyone to eat ice cream with again which was the only joy he knew in his short life.

Yeah, that's not a happy ending.

DeadIIIRed4494d ago

Yeah XIII was just a little too melodramatic for me and Vanille's constant moaning and grunting ruined every cutscene she was in.

Pozzle4495d ago

Not surprised to see so many Final Fantasy games there :P

Bimkoblerutso4494d ago

Not surprised to see so many Japanese games in general. In fact, they're ALL Japanese games.

No HL2:Ep2. No Mass Effect. No Braid. No Beyond Good and Evil. No Heavy Rain. etc. etc.

Legend of Dragoon. Ending was amazing and it gets me every time. ):
Wish they would remake it already.
The list is fail without Legend of Dragoon on there..

Elda4494d ago

FF-X was about death, anytime there was death & destruction Yuna had to put their souls to rest, those parts were very touching, including the emotional madness Tidus & the gang were going through,I think FFX deserves the top spot.FF-XIII had some emotional scenes also, when Sazh was going to kill Vanille, when Vanille & Fang turned to crystal & there are other moments in that game that was emotional.

Original Final Fantasy 7 - Is it Worth Playing in 2024?

Final Fantasy 7 has come back under the spotlight thanks to the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but is it worth replaying the original?

ravens5210d ago

Got to Zacks part in 7 Rebirth. Said f it. Finishing my game in 7 og. Just got to part 2 yesterday. I also got Crisis Core... So it'll be a while before I'm back to Rebirth. I just keep thinking about it too smh, want to get back to playing it. Not till I know Zacks story though. I beat 7 og sooooooo long ago, it's crazy going through it again and remembering things.

MrNinosan10d ago (Edited 10d ago )

Got to Zacks part in Rebirth?
You mean you started the game and turned it off?
The game starts with Zack...

ravens529d ago

... Really 🤓 lol. His second part, I've played for 80hrs lmao. <---- PS5 Run time, probably not all game time. You guys know how it goes.

VIK21219d ago (Edited 9d ago )

Did you not ever play the OG FF7? After you recruit Vincent, later in the game, disc 3, return to that basement and look at the pod, there's a whole Zack story that'll trigger as a memory.... it's well hidden in the game and a lot of things regarding Zack are cleared up. FF7 Crisis Core is basically an extend feature of that hidden flashback... It took me years to discover it back then lol

@ravens52
80 hours in Rebirth by doing everything, and you should've reached Zacks story about 5 times 🤣

ravens529d ago

Ye I kno that's y I said not all gameplay time. But also I am very anal when it comes to exploring.

ravens529d ago

Not to mention fighting Titan at his full strength. Hours spent trying still haven't succeeded. Found all 3 ruins but I'ma masochist when it comes to games.

Very much so. Graphically it's dated but the story and the gameplay haven't aged a day. It's still one of my all time favourite RPGs and for me is better than Remake in some ways.

Barlos10d ago (Edited 10d ago )

It always takes me back to Christmas 1997, I got it as a gift and I was blown away when I played it. I couldn't believe games could look that good. The combination of pre rendered backgrounds and FMV really made it stand out. It definitely still has a certain charm that modern games can't replicate.

I can't imagine people will still be talking about Remake and Rebirth in 27 years.

Tapani9d ago

Fully agreed. To me the atmosphere, pacing, gameplay and music are all better than in the remake.

Rebel_Scum10d ago

Yes, play this, skip remake, start rebirth for new players.

I_am_Batman10d ago

Skip Remake? That's terrible advice.

leahcim9d ago

Remake is so amazing, pure FFVII Love, play it on PS5 please! aww the graphics the battles, the music... a dream come true.

Rebel_Scum9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

I disagree Batman

Rise of the ronin sold twice as much as Dragons Dogma 2 this week...but no articles about that. It's only news if a PS exclusive is being outsold.
