Hard-core fans will love the story and eventually, if they're persistent and patient enough they'll get over the horrendous controls and camera and other gameplay drawbacks mentioned in this review. Those of you who are new to the series will undoubtedly be disappointed by the fact that Crystal Dynamics hasn't done a MUCH better job at porting Defiance to the PC.
Crystal Dynamics' interest in Legacy of Kain and the new secret playtest rekindle hopes for the epic vampire journey's much-needed revival.
Yeah. It would be nice.
But kind of hard to do when they are tasked in helping TRILLION dollar companies finish making their games. Just blows your mind right? Sucks the life right out of you like a vampire.
They need to do it quick the voice talent isn't getting any younger and we need a wrap up of the story of Kain and Raziel.
Man I can only imagine what a modern take of Nosgoth would look like past and present. Have Blood Omen with D4 style top down graphics and Soul Reaver taking advantage of SSD and physical/spectral plain shifting with modern graphics and updated combat ,,,, drool :p Honestly they could condense soul reaver 1,2& defiance in to 1 game if they ever do a remake , make it a huge epic arpg
The latest survival smash hit, there are quite a few games like V Rising out there, though nothing that's the exact same blood type.
Today on COG Considers, let's talk about the power of a good doomed protagonist, as demonstrated by some important moments in gaming history.
you little weasel, when i saw the picture my heart fell! i thought there's news/rumors for a sequel.
what's the point of this now?
6.9 for lok defiance? no way dude. much higher. great end to a series with twists and turns no one saw coming. best voice work in a series ever.
one of the richest most elaborate and twisted stories told. to me, only 3 games stories were timeless classics, Legacy of Kain, Metal Gear Solid: Solid Snake and Final Fantasy VII.
The last two hours or so were incredibly engrossing both story and gameplay wise, and provided a satisfying end to the Soul Reaver franchise. Everything prior to that however was pure, routine-based filler. So many elements of the game were recycled over and over again; it was infuriating.
The last act saved it.
Really? Why can't anyone who reviews games (especially old games) solely compare it to games of their time? This game (for it's time) did everything right, from graphics, to voice acting and story telling.
You can't complain about things like shoddy camera control when the game is as old as it was.
6.9 is not what this game deserves and shouldn't be done justice with way the writer served it.
