*doing the MC hammer*

Details, details, details!..lol

But they're not going to show anything that wasn't at E3 2011.

"However, Nintendo will not have a booth at CES, nor does it plan to include any games, experiences or information beyond what was available at the 2011 E3 Expo."

This is really just for the media who missed out on playing the Wii U at this year's E3.

wanderson754511d ago

Yeah. But having went to E3, the lines were absolutely outrageous both after the conference and at their booth. A lot of us couldn't stand in line for two hours to get some time with it due to meetings. I'm really hoping we can get an appointment this time around.

Shok4511d ago

Damn that sucks man. You should get a good amount of hands-on with it this time though. Good luck.

For me, I'm just still confused about the controller.

I mean, it seems Wii remotes work with Wii U and Nintendo are still planning to release motion games on Wii U but isn't Wii U's primary appeal supposed to be this new controller.

Like Nintendo said their next Zelda title will definitely use motionplus but can we swing Link's sword using the Wii U controller (if it does have motion sensing)?

Shok4510d ago (Edited 4510d ago )

Yea, the Wii U pad does have motion sensing.

What Nintendo is most likely going to do is simply support multiple controller inputs. They've done this before with games like Smash Bros Brawl and Mario Kart Wii.

I think the WiiMote+ will still coexist with the Wii U pad.

Tenkay234510d ago

The wii u tablet has a gyroscope and accelerometer.....

So it has motion controls just like an iPad does.

Know your facts.

wanderson754510d ago

We'll find out in a couple of weeks. Just booked our appointment to get some hands on time. Stay tuned. ;)

Its a shame on nintendo. Don't bring a console 2 CES that isn't the final version. I have already seen the stuff from E3. Show us something new

Tenkay234510d ago

Wow in 7 months since its reveal at E3 you're telling me Nintendo still hasnt made progress on the console? Don't wait until E3. Give us a bone like a trailer with actual gameplay footage or something, not a port with Xbox 360 trailers. We need more info. A price point or release date at least. Don't make us wait until E3

A7XEric4510d ago

Who says they haven't made progress on the console? Whenever developers and publishers put together materials for these trade shows, it takes weeks to prepare. Why would they put together a giant info blowout at a trade show that isn't even gaming centric, where they have very little presence in comparison to e3, and have to do it again in 6 months for e3?

There's no reason for them to have their giant reveal other than to satisfy the impatience of people. It makes most sense for them to have their blowout at e3 since they do have a much bigger presence, have a 2 hour press conference to themselves, and it gives all of their developers much more time to put polish on what they're working on to have a better big reveal.

mike1up4510d ago

Well said.

But who says it has to be a "blowout"? Nintendo could show a new Killer Freaks level, or a demo with players using more than 1 WiiU controller.

All Nintendo has to do is show something new... anything. I love the Zelda HD demo too, but it has been 7 months since E3 and Nintendo made some pretty big promises.

Yodagamer4510d ago

what do you expect it is classic nintendo, they wait till e3 to show there huge cards, always have

I'm tempted just because I missed out on xenoblade chronicles x. But it's a big waste for just one game

Sgt_Slaughter450d ago

It's also a great system for backwards compatibility and emulation too, especially with the off TV play through the tablet.

I bought a Wii-U last year due to the fact that the Wii Punch-Out for some reason has not been ported to the Switch, which is odd since almost all of the Punch-Out games, arcade included are available for the Switch.

Prefer the wii/GameCube combo console myself.

10 Years Later, the Wii U is Nintendo's Most Interesting Misstep

The Wii U was an abject failure, but sometimes even failures are worthwhile (if still expensive) learning experiences.

Five Video Game Console Launches That Went Terribly Wrong

Yet they all turned out to be great systems with lots of gems, except for Jaguar. Wii U was a criminally underrated system. The Gamepad implementation of Zelda Twilight Princess was incredible! I was so disappointed they removed it altogether for Breath of the Wild because they wanted "parity" with the Switch version. Its a shame and it was a lame excuse.

You can tell BotW was designed around the gamepad usage, with all that menu navigation. That item management and weapon switching would have been 100x better with the gamepad. The worst part was they never let the wii U players know they were removing it! I got the game for Wii U at launch and was disappointed it wasnt there.

PS3 was a mess at first but what a turnaround! That was a crazy generation. Uncharted 1,2,3, Infamous 1 & 2, God of War 3, Last of Us, MGS4, Ratchet and Clank series, Little Big Planet, Modnation Racers, Killzone, Resistance. My god they were so on point later in that generation it was crazy!

Nintendo Screwed themselves using the Wii name again. And the jaguar was straight doo doo; I still have it.

I had it too... Jag could have been something great considering how good the ST games were. And now many of those have been ported but it was too little too late. The CD was just plain unreliable (apart from being an obvious design flaw). The thing about the Jag was it was just too Euro. given that Atari was built initially a US brand and then it later became more European and you could tell from the games. There is just something that stands out with EU created games vs NA or JP ones. Alien vs Predator was cool but def needed a better frame rate. At least 30fps instead of the 15-20 it was.

Im actually surprised nobody has gone back and tried to remaster that one for other platforms. It was a pretty good game.

Surprised vita didn’t get a mention in the article.

PS3 had a buggered up launch but Sony was able to turn things around with the PS3. I still say the XB360 had a terrible launch half the systems cooked themselves and the RROD would appear. Then the 3DO, CDI, Pippin, the Amiga, 32X the list can go on and on with systems with terrible launches.
